While paging through the latest edition of Bon Appetit, I stumbled upon some truly good news. They have a feature titled "10 Surprising Superfoods," items both healthful and up to gourmet standards. Item No. One: Bacon! Says the magazine, "... here comes Jennifer McLagan, author of a book simply called Fat, telling us that 45 percent of the fat in bacon is monounsaturated, the good-for-you fat that can help lower bad cholesterol levels. Better still, bacon's monounsaturated fat turns out to be oleic acid, the same fat found in olive oil. So that means that some could argue that bacon is about half as good for you as olive oil and about 100 times more delicious." I never would have guessed. Bon Appetit goes on to include the usual caveat: "Of course, moderation is key here, and you should seek out artisanal varieties without preservatives." So, I had two slices for breakfast. Not artisanal, but delicious anyway. It's always cheering to see an item escape the clutches of the health police and achieve rehabilitation.

I worked with an Indian and he always said he could return to India because of the three Bs - blondes, beef and booze.
Yummy!
And a healthy lunch it was, too.
Except maybe for the mayo.
LOL....I didn’t make up the menu. Frankly, I’d rather have sprouts.
Bacon wrapped Scallops...
I love bacon too, but what a royal pain in the a$$ to cook..
Anyone have any quick and easy methods? I like to cook the whole package but loathe to labor over a frying pan turning and seperating and pouring off the excess grease.
Try a tuna sub with bacon. You’ll never go back.
Subway serves them too.
Oh yeah. I forgot another favorite.
My father, when he cooked Saturday lunch for us kids, would slit a hot dog length-wise, stuff a strip of Kraft American cheese in the slot and then wrap the whole thing with BACON - pinned together with tooth picks.
Beyond delicious...
Try a slotted roasting pan in the oven. You don’t really have to even turn it.
Grease drops to the bottom and can be poured off or scraped off when done.
In the South, some boutique restaurants offer BLGT's - bacon, lettuce and (fried) green tomatoes. Double yummmm!
Now you'll have to excuse me. I have to go buy some bacon!
Now you’ve done it. I’m off to the store for some Hebrew National All Beef Tube Steak and a package of extra thick Hickory Smoked Bacon...
Bacon..the candy of meats. :-)
I hate to throw away such tasty ... umm ... grease.
I sometimes flaver my dog's dry food with it ... it's a toss-up if he dives for it, or non chalantly nibbles at it.
Ideas, anyone?
