Can you set it next to a colt and swap uppers?

Well, if you switch the barrel/gas tube with it, yes. The article says the lower and attachments are standard, so the interface to the upper has to be the same.

The flat top upper receiver and barrel assembly is specific to the Ruger SR-556.

Uh, oh.

Colt uses it's own pin diameter. I can swap out my Armalite with a Bushmaster and all the rest of the manufacturers. I have a Bush/Lite sitting in the toy box. Bushmaster lower with Armalite upper. I also have a full competitive match upper that I can use on my Armalite lower which swaps out for my Leg match upper.

You can’t set some Colts next to some Colts and swap uppers, thanks to their stupid proprietary pin idiocy that they came up with.

So, I guess Colts are junk too.
