I still have nightmares from “Great Expectations.” “Heart of Darkness” was pretty gruesome, too.

I liked “Heart of Darkness,” but I never cared for Dickens. I think it would have made sense for the literature course to include “Tale of Two Cities” after “The Scarlet Pimpernel,” but I’m not the publisher ...
