A glossary of Republican doublespeak (barf alert)
SF Chronicle ^ | 5/11/09 | Jaime O'Neill

Posted on 05/11/2009 4:34:00 PM PDT by NotchJohnson

The Republican universe is a bit topsy-turvy, rather like the one created by Lewis Carroll in "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." In that story, the Queen of Hearts did not restrict herself to the generally accepted meaning of words. When she used a word, she said, it meant exactly what she wanted it to mean, no more and no less. It was good to be queen.

And, until recently, it was good to be Republican. They held the White House, and their top guys had most of the money and consequently got most of the tax breaks. Yet they still felt aggrieved and put upon, stalked by demon Democrats who didn't understand their fundamental goodness or the language they were speaking.

People who don't dwell in the land of Republicans might become confused upon hearing the alternative English they speak. Republican is a tough language, but with application and study, you, too, can learn it:

Activist judges: Judges whose rulings are at odds with the perceived wisdom of Republicans, as explained to them by Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh.

Bankers: Stewards of the capitalist system who always know what's best for the economy, who deserve low taxes and big year-end bonuses no matter how poorly their institutions have performed.

Class warfare: Assaults on rich people in the form of the usual whining of poor people.

This is what can make the San Francisco Chronicle. They pretty much are accurate on many though, although it is an attempt at humor.

If I called the author a bolney bratchny would a dictionary be required? Inquiring minds want to know.

That really is sad.

Sounds like something from a grade schooler.

Embarrassing. Any one of those terms has a perfectly straightforward and legitimate definition. Unlike the persistent and ubiquitous doublespeak practiced routinely by the Left. “Pro-choice,” anyone?

"...Bankers: Stewards of the capitalist system who always know what's best for the economy, who deserve low taxes and big year-end bonuses no matter how poorly their institutions have performed...."

Pretty much accurate? I don't know you, and don't recall many postings from you, so I am going to assume you are being completely facetious.

It seems to me that if the author had said this about Franklin Delano Raines and Jamie Gorelick, he would be spot on. Here is just a little history on JUST THOSE TWO:

Investigators found that of the $90.12 million Raines was paid in that six-year period, more than $52 million came from EPS bonuses.” Director Franklin Raines made $90 million in bonuses.

Gorelick’s situation was similar. OFHEO found that she took home $26.46 million in the period from 1998 to 2002 (she left in that year, so she wasn’t there for the entire period under investigation). Of that figure, nearly $15 million came from EPS bonuses.

AND THIS WAS CRIMINAL, THE RESULTS OF COOKED BOOKS!

I admit, I find absolutely nothing humorous or truthful about this. And this is just one line I take umbrage with. I could go on to each point, but the sheer gall of liberal projection is stunning here.

Just curious. What do you really think?

I will be frank. This man running the country, his ideology and the people he associates with are dismembering this country piece by piece, and I FIND NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT THIS. Nothing.

The really sad thing is... the people who think that we are the ones who have somehow taken over the language truly don’t get how we see things. Here’s some help Mr. Mainstream Liberal Press/Academia/Politician:

Activist judges: Judges whose issue rulings based not upon what the law or the US Constitution actually says - or even within the limited confines of the old traditions and limitations of English Common Law - but instead upon their own sense of social justice or the dominant progressive sentiments of the day.

Bankers: Stewards of the “banks” and other varied financial institutions who too often cozy up to government in return for special privileges, bailouts, and laws designed to insulate them from competition.

Class warfare: Morally equating the producers in society whose efforts create wealth for themselves and others with the looters in society who use the coercive power of government to live off of them (the producers) like leeches. Often part of an effort by collectivist politicians through demagoguery to win support amongst the dissatisfied by morally disconnecting them from responsibility for their own plight.

Clinton, Wm. Jefferson: Liberal Democrat president who amazingly manages to appear almost a “centrist” when compared to the current liberal Democrat president.

Compassionate conservatism: A terrible idea that may well have destroyed the Republican Party. In practice it means Riding the Freight Train to Serfdom just a little slower than when “real” Democrats are in charge.

Democrats: One of the two major political parties in modern America. Betrayed its roots in “classical liberalism” back in the 1890s when it seduced the Populists into the big tent, and sold its soul to the devil of collectivism during the Woodrow Wilson and FDR years. In addition to being the main champion for “mainstream” socialism in America since the 1930s... since the late 1960s it has been the preferred party of America’s foreign enemies.

Energy policy: Catchphrase designed to make the idea of a centrally planned economy - through mechanisms such as “Five Year Plans” - more palatable to the average American voter. Usually manifests itself in the form of regulations preventing the production of affordable and available energy.

Fairness Doctrine: A government regulation designed to stifle the political speech of those who think that government is already too powerful - usually but not always aimed at conservatives.

Fox News: The one relevant national media conglomerate that isn’t reflexively in line with the liberal Democrat Party and its economic, political, and social worldview.

Gore, Al: Liberal Democrat presidential candidate who went off the deep end after losing the 2000 presidential election to the liberal governor of Texas.

Greed: The emotion that drives liberal politicians to concentrate more and more power (most of it unconstitutional) in the hands of government, usually at the expense of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Justice Department: Agency created to crack down on dissidents and other domestic “enemies” of statism, and to defeat any effective challenges to unconstitutional power-grabs by the state.

Liberal: A doctrine the used to champion individual rights, free markets, limited government, and property rights. Today it champions “group” rights, centrally planned economies, statism, and the curtailment of property rights in the name of the “public good.”

Limbaugh, Rush: Twenty million listeners wish he was the voice of the Republican Party.

New York Times: Propaganda organ of the liberal Democrat Party, apologist for Hitler and Stalin in the 1930s that has been supporting America’s enemies - foreign and domestic - ever since.

No!: How every member of Congress should vote on every bill unless that bill disestablishes a government program or agency.

Obama, Barack: Took over as conductor driving the National Freight Train to Serfdom (er, Socialism) from George W. Bush in January 2009. Within days of his inauguration auctioned the freight train on E-bay and spent the proceeds plus an additional 3 trillion dollars of the people’s money on the Millennium Falcon since “the freight train wasn’t getting us there fast enough.”

Patriotism: Standing up for the founding principles of the country as defined by the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution such as Creator-endowed individual liberty, free markets, property rights, and limited government.

Pelosi, Nancy: If San Francisco (or all of California for that matter) ever wants to secede from the constitutional federation they have our blessing.

Poor: A state of mind that provides segments of the population with the moral justification to use the coercive power of government to live off the fruits of other people’s labors. In the older days... we used to call those who lived off the wealth forcibly seized from others masters and we used to call their victims slaves.

Profit: The primary incentive - whether economic, emotional, social, or spiritual - to act.

Republicans: One of the two major political parties in modern America. Sold its soul to the devil of collectivist progressivism during the first decade of the 20th century under President Theodore Roosevelt. Elected the two “best” presidents of the 20th century - Calvin Coolidge and Ronald Reagan - but for most of the 20th and 21st centuries has been nearly as destructive of individual rights, free markets, property rights, and state sovereignty as the liberal Democrat Party. At its best, it has served as the “lesser of two evils” choice for millions of American voters who would like to someday get back the freedoms bequeathed to us by the Founding Fathers.

Saint: A football team from the Liberal Democrat Utopia of New Orleans.

Secular humanists: Replacing worship of a divine being for worship of collectivist government power.

Victory: What we sacrificed hundreds of thousands of lives and countless treasure during the 20th century to do to the forces of collectivist tyranny (Nazism, fascism, communism) abroad... while surrendering to those same forces at home.

Wall Street: See “bankers” above.
