'SNL' Producer: Sarah Palin 'Most Confident Person I've Ever Met'

Stop the presses!

A member of the mainstream media actually said something nice about Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

I kid you not: "Saturday Night Live" senior producer Marci Klein said during an interview last week, "This is the most confident person I've ever met."

Certainly not the impression created by CBS's Katie Couric or ABC's Charlie Gibson, wouldn't you agree?

Appearing on Julie Menin's "Give and Take," Klein had absolutely nothing but nice things to say about the press's current public enemy #1 (video embedded below the fold with partial transcript, relevant section at 2:25):

You didn’t think they were making fun of his rating system of the banks when he passed them all? I guess we saw if differently.

I think it was a combination of her having a bad day and bad editing/constantly replaying the one or two moments that were admittedly cringeworthy.

The whole interview was probably close to an hour worth or more of footage. They aired a few seconds worth here and there over and over again. You could do that for any one. Obama had some pretty bad moments but the media never aired them again and probably erased all the tapes.

Same with Biden. Like when he talked about FDR going on TV, or when he told the guy in the wheelchair to stand up, or started talking about how bad he was and how Hillary was much better. I saw all of that once and it was never replayed again. If the press had shown that 1000000 times and said look how stupid this guy is, he thinks FDR went on TV during the Depression, that would have hurt the dems, but the media would never do that.

But it happens. In the end I don’t think they really made that much of a difference. The Couric or Gibson interviews, that is. They happened at the same time the entire economy collapsed in a span of a few weeks. It was worst 6 weeks before the election in the history of US politics economically, interms of GDP, unemployment, the market, misery index, etc... Once that happened the die was cast. The media tried to make fun of Bush the same way, but the economy was in good shape in 2004 so it didnt work. If Sept/Oct 2008 had happened in 2004, Kerry would be President.

I’ve seen her do hundreds of interviews, if there’s a few minutes out of hours worth of footage that are out there, that’s not so bad.

I also wonder if perhaps she was ill or something happened physically at that time. Just looking at her she looked really different during those interviews. Much thinner. Maybe it was a bad makeup job or something, looked kind of drawn, especially around the eyes and lips. No big deal, but based on what I’ve seen I wouldn’t be surprised if if something like that could affect one’s demeanor.

It was certainly a shame how the media treated her, but there’s really nothing you can do about it. Just take it and try and do better and overcome it.

i think they were the highest the show has ever had, or certainly in a very long time. but if i were her i wouldnt trust them one bit. in the end, they ultimately made it show policy to embarrass her and actively work for Obama’s election. I wouldn’t give them the time of day. Same with Letterman and a few others. I’d never appear on any of their shows.

"It’s so bizarre, such ‘establishment’ GOP-ers just seem to go out of their way to dump on Palin."

Those would be the same 'establishment GOP-ers' who stuck us with McCain and with Dole before him...right?

Gov. Palin should not have gone on any network ‘shows’ That she did so was possibly at the urging/direction of pukes running the feckless McCain campaign. McCain’s people never took her seriously, they just usede her for point. If Sarah had refused to go make a spectacle of herself for the deadfish McCain, she would be in a much stronger position today as a serious candidate for 2012. She may recover from the McCain peoples’ trashing her despite the efforts of Romneyites and GOP goons, because she is actually that strong a conservative person and a lot brighter than the media would allow the public to perceive.

I didn't see it your way, but I could be wrong.

What I notice on SNL, and every other comedy show, is the complete lack of jokes directed at The One. They make fun of Biden and the other people that work for him, all the White staff, but not Holder or anyone else “of color”.

These people are mocked to show that Obama is above it all, and any problems are caused by his (white) Subordinates, never him. It is obvious to me, but maybe I have a distrust of the Media, whether Entertainment or News Divisions.

Sounds like SNL may ask Palin to revisit the show. Maybe the ratings were high? Or maybe... just maybe.. She’s a very confident woman. (Probably both.)

Palin should demand Millions to appear. Why should SNL make a fortune on her appearance. None of the braindead lefties in Hollywood would show for free. They even made a killing on the 9-11 Memorial Show! Remember that fiasco???

The bigger question is: Why is Palin wasting her time with a bimbette like Klein? That show hasn't been funny in years. Its all potty mouth and political jokes about GOP folk. Its just a trashy show. I didn't understand why she stooped so low as to appear the first time. What benefit? Let them make you look like an idiot on national TV? DON'T HELP THEM HURT YOU!!!

I’ve heard recently from many sources that “Obama is too articulate and accomplished to be the target of jokes” like Bush was...or in this case Sarah Palin. That is such baloney. You could spend hours and hours doing jokes about his unbelievable dependence on teleprompters and what a dope his is without one....or his Dumbo ears. I think these notables are scared of the Big O. They knew Bush wouldn’t do anything no matter how they ridiculed them. Barry on the other hand made it clear he gets pissed when you make fun of him. I think they are really scared of retribution or the label of racist so they don’t dare say anything. It is a damn lie that he is above comic insults being directed at him. About the only place I see it is right here at Freepers...thank God somebody’s honest about it somewhere!

" She was the only high-ranking government person to do that in their memory."

She has much in common with Ronald Reagan. Both working without notes, And forming their opinions on their own competent analysis of the facts.

Probably two of the five greatest intellects to participate in American government. (the other three being Jefferson, Madison, and Franklin)

Well, it’s not just the left,

Granted. There is a definite insider/outsider issue in the GOP, and she is a distinct outsider. The party Washingtonians, to use Rush's term for inside the beltway ideology-free elitists, sabotage the conservative every time. They did it to Goldwater, tried and succeeded at first with Reagan, and now with Palin. With them I think it's basically snobbery--note the references by McCaini-a**-holes about "hillbillies." They want to keep the riff-raff out of the club. With the left it is life and death.

That wasn’t what I was doing, but I get your point.

I guess my “Anti-Obamunist On Board” bumper sticker makes me a Racist. LOL

I'd love to have a sticker like that on my car but I live in So Cal and if I did I'd be having it repainted it every other month....

No you aren't wrong - they skirt The One completely and blame others. But wasn't the skit last night supposed to show that any strict regulations that would show a bank was insolvent had been pretty much thrown out the window and the "test" had become more like a quiz given to the banks.

Citibank continually answered "Geithner sucks" to each question. And Geithner seemed incapable of doing anything about it.

I guess the bottom line is that we don't trust the media to really show the truth and even when they do attempt something, it is not clear what they mean.

A member of the mainstream media actually said something nice about Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

I don't think it was so much that she said "something nice" about Sarah Palin. I think it was that she didn't say anything bad about her. She just basically gave a relatively fair summation of her observations of Sarah Palin, and said that she didn't get to know her.

Agree, she’s awesome. Hopefully she won’t be disappointing on key issues. As long as she stays (or at least becomes on some issues) a mainstream conservative, she’ll have the nomination locked up.
