Is globalism and "free trade" what's destroying the GOP? (America-first vanity)

Posted on 05/09/2009 12:47:21 PM PDT by Cringing Negativism Network

Yesterday I happened upon a post by a fellow FReeper. In retrospect, I am sorry for responding rudely to their post - and I hope they happen upon this apology.

The post was presenting their heartfelt opinion that American industry and our system itself must be allowed to come apart so that something better can replace it.

It was a Rand-ian position. The system is becoming oppressive, therefore we must weaken it.

Well, let’s see (why do you guys have such a problem with the historical record?) . . . Reagan was elected over Carter, and faced a Congress controlled by the Democrats. Are you suggesting that there was a trend?

You simply choose to ignore the comments that are inconvenient.

I've refuted so many of your falsehoods that I've lost track. Which one are you whining about?

You've refuted close to nothing, and if you can't remember, you should reread the thread. I already gave you a hint, and it involves PugetSoundSoldier.

God, your mind is so dense that light must bend when it passes around it.

You tell me. Are you back to claiming that Reagan created the NAFTA agreement? Is there some new falsehood of your’s that I’ve overlooked?

Gimme. I love slapping you down.

That's interesting, although I don't enjoy arguing with children. Are you arguing that Reagan did not create NAFTA? You don't see how this works, at all. If you choose to disagree with me, you need to make your argument.

This isn't a "1rudeboy needs to prove everything and Mojave simply has to disagree" sort of relationship.

Are you arguing that Reagan did not create NAFTA?

It didn't even exist when he was President. Just what are you falsely contending that he created in it?

There is evidence, on this very thread and in Reagan's own words, that he envisioned a free trade zone between Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Remember, it is your (unproven) contention that Reagan did not approve of the free trade zone created between Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

I can't make it any more simple than that . . . dance away.

The historical record is: We have a socialist/Marxist in the White House and his cohorts control both legislative branches .... unless you don't think Zero is a Marxist? Yes/No - you have to select one.
And the FR free trade crowd has a problem understanding that there are WINNERS and LOSERS in the free trade arena. The winners are obviously the 3rd World nations that get our manufacturing jobs .... the losers are the folks who lose their jobs here*. YOU cannot deny that.

The standard retort is; well let them build our stuff we're all going to become researchers and rocket scientists and the like (and do Lasik surgery on each other LOL)

I really don't know if it's a 'snob thing' .... like not knowing there are people who simply working at there full mental capacity just showing up and pulling a lever when a light blinks.

While the standard FR response to those folks is tough titties, those people still have a vote. And by voting for Obama -PBOH- they believe they had the best chance to continue eating.

And on a personal note, I apologize for being so bitchy the other day .... I'm always that way prior to final inspections. I really don't wish unemployment on anyone.

*Which is/was why Karl Marx was a free trader. He knew the losers would turn to his beliefs when they lost their source of income.

Let me see if I have this straight: you agree with Marx about free trade, as do others. Those of you that are "down" with the struggle of the working class elected a Marxist to the White House.

And you are blaming me? LOL

he envisioned a free trade zone between Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

That's it? He envisioned a possible future agreement which was actually signed into law by Bill Clinton following negotiations that all occurred after President Reagan left office?

I actually feel sorry for you.

That's right, Mojave . . . it may come as a shock to you, but Reagan did not tailor his beliefs about the free market in anticipation of a subsequent presidency.

I don't feel sorry for you at all. Nature requires that some of us be stupid, and you fit the bill.

Reagan did not tailor his beliefs about the free market in anticipation of a subsequent presidency.

So he didn't anticipate the NAFTA agreement signed by Clinton? You're flip flopping.
