Sorry to hear it.
Sad.
But at the age of 48, he cannot be the original bass player.
Free Bird came out in 1973. He would have been twelve years old.
Woa, and here I sit wearing my Lynyrd Skynyrd sweatshirt my son bought for me last year.
Sure am sorry to hear that Evans has passed away.
Green Grass and High Tides Forever.....

I love that song. (But it was sung by The Outlaws)
I thought they all died in a plane crash years ago? Anyway sorry to hear about this guy dying! I liked Sweet Home Alabama.
Yes. It was a tribute to first to fall. Hence the reference. ;-)
Outlaws...
I believe Ed King was the original bassist.

“Whiskey bottles/brand new cars. Oak tree you’re in my way...”
Their singer Ronnie Van Zant and others Steve Gaines, & Cassie Gaines, were killed but not the whole band. The band reformed.

Well, here’s meaningless trivia: our band, “Rampage,” was offered the #2 slot in Lynyrd Skynyrd’s management circa 1975, but our band leader thought they wanted too much money. So he looked for another management group. It wasn’t long after that they went down in the plane crash and we would have been the #1 band in that agency. Doh!
