Dog catches bus ... and escapes coyotes

CALGARY -- Coyotes had already drawn blood from Hugh Magill's cherished dog Duke when Calgary Transit driver Dawn Hagel came to the rescue.
Early Tuesday morning while shuttling commuters, Hagel noticed a pair of coyotes menacing a dog that had taken refuge beneath a parked pickup truck.
"I thought, 'There's a puppy underneath that vehicle,' so I immediately thought I can't leave that dog there," said Hagel, a 3 1/2-year Calgary Transit driver.
She simply opened the bus door like she would for any passenger and Duke didn't hesitate to take up the invitation - scurrying aboard.
"He was in the bus in a heartbeat - he knew it was a much-better fate," said Hagel, who owns two dogs of her own. "That dog was breakfast."
Bus passengers comforted the dog, which carried identification tags and was quickly traced to resident Hugh Magill.
It appeared to have been bitten twice by coyotes on its right rear leg and was bleeding. A grateful Magill credited the bus driver with probably saving his dog's life.

I'm a real menace to society. My younger dog, weighing about 84 lb., is about half Pit Bull and half Black Lab. Not only that, he's allowed to stay in my SUV when it's parked, with a loaded .357 S&W revolver in the glove compartment. Just imagine what that dog, SUV, and gun could do together. HORRORS!!!

My house is surrounded by Darby Creek Metro park. I have only one neighbor. It’s beautiful here. But I hate the coyotes who come running by the back of my house screaming like whipped puppies.
They come here and torment my labs who are in a kennel and kill my cats. I really don’t like coyotes.
