It's commonly believed to be the number that identifies the Antichrist. So perhaps the owner of this Dodge Viper supercar shouldn't have been surprised when their car went up in flames.
The registration plate was '666': it was almost an invitation.
It's not known what happened to the car in the Russian city of Kostroma - but whatever it was, it certainly appears apocalyptic.
The top of the car was ripped off in an explosion. The seats have burned away and the charred engine is exposed. Melted, twisted metal is everywhere.
Strangely, the inferno appears to have been concentrated on the interior of the car. The wheels and the remainder of the exterior are charred but oddly intact compared to the destruction of the interior.
It is not known if anyone was injured in the explosion.
The 600-horsepower car - which starts at $91,220 (£62,000) - can usually go from 0-60 in just four seconds.
But it's clear this one isn't going anywhere.

Is this TRUE? LOL!
Ping!
Eh, it’s just Putin assassinating another political opponent.
Now they know why we smart Americans avoid that number. :D
Car explodes in Russia. Sun rises in East.
Now I'm gonna have that Iron Maiden song stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
"....Woe to you, oh earth and man, for the devil sends the beast with wrath..."
Wonder if someone aimed a laser beam into the car, causing it to catch fire on the inside?
“Now they know why we smart Americans avoid that number”
A guy ahead of me in a grocery once bought a couple of things and the total rang up $6.66. He told the cashier he wasn’t paying that and tossed in a pack of gum.
“Wonder if someone aimed a laser beam into the car, causing it to catch fire on the inside?”
Could have been a plasma cannon or photon torpedo, you never know.
That looked like one hot car!!!!
That is normally the result of the note is due and the insurance policy in the dash compartment started a fire.
Looks like an insurance job or a hit job.
I’d have sent the plates back and waited for new ones with different numbers...
And yes, I’m one of those who “throws in a pack of gum” if whatever I’m buying rings up to $6.66.
A friend of mine once rebuilt a 240Z that could top that.
Has nothing to do with ‘666’
It’s very common in Russia right now, setting fire high profile cars when they’re parked on the street.
Saw pictures of a ‘Vette two weeks ago, melted to the ground.
The guy should have expected the spontaneous combustion. He was driving a Dodge.
I don’t see much evidence of burning there. Looks more like HE.
No, the debbo did it!
I’m thinking of putting angelic script on my car.
It was either torched for the insurance by an owner who no longer has the means to pay for it or it was torched in an act of malice by individuals who can't afford such a nice car and blame rich capitalists for their problems. Luxury car torchings are common in Russia these days as Russia is finding itself in the same economic crisis that's affecting the rest of the world.
