2009 Blessing of the Fleet The 41st annual “Blessing of the Shrimp and Pleasure Boat Fleet” will be held Sunday May 3, at 2:00 on the Clear Creek Channel, along the Kemah Boardwalk. Colorfully decorated shrimp boats and pleasure craft will file past the Cadillac “Authentic Mexican Restaurant” where they will be blessed by the officiating priest and minister.
Hurricane Ike took a devastating toll on our area especially the local shrimpers. Their livelihood was directly affected and many have yet to recover. Therefore, our main focus this year will be to help them in their recovery efforts. Bring your family and friends down to the Kemah Boardwalk to witness the festive boats and colorful crews as they parade down the channel in celebration of this time honored tradition. Whether you enter your boat or just enjoy the parade, this is one event that you won’t want to miss! "Visit http://www.kemah.net to download an entry form or pick one up in person at the following locations: Kemah Boardwalk Marina (281-334-2284), Captain Henry’s Seafood Market (281-334-4034), Kemah Visitor Center (281-334-3181), or Kemah City Hall (281- 334-1611). LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Question? Can liberals eat blessed shrimp? Isn’t there some clause in our living Constitution that requires separation of church and shrimp that travel in interstate commerce? I’m sure a judge could find it./sarc maybe not
Another "great" place to indulge in some of TF's crappy "Sysco Palace" food.
Now that looks like something I should go to with an empty stomach.
This is a huge event locally. Loads of family fun and outstanding food.
The countdown to the 80th Annual Blessing of the Fleet and Shrimp Festival has begun!
Join us June 5, 6, and 7, 2009, when we celebrate this landmark anniversary of a beloved Biloxi tradition.
Down around Biloxi
Pretty girls are dancin' in the sea
They all look like sisters in the ocean
The boy will fill his pail with salty water
And the storms will blow from off towards New Orleans
Sun shines on Biloxi
Air is filled with vapors from the sea
Boy will dig a pool beside the ocean
He sees creatures from his dream underwater
And the sun will set from off towards New Orleans
Stars can see Biloxi
Stars can find their faces in the sea
We are walking down beside the ocean
We are splashing naked in the water
And the sky is red from off towards New Orleans
And the sky is red from off towards New Orleans
Down around Biloxi
Pretty girls are swimming in the sea
They all look like sisters in the ocean
The boy will fill his pail with salty water
And the storms will blow from off toward New Orleans
...and the sky is red, off towards New Orleans...
Beautiful. I’ll be there!
What I do with some of the shrimp!

Right now, jumbos are running about $3 a pound off the boat. There is a very nice Vietnamese gentleman I buy from regularly.
I love them sauteed' in butter (REAL butter) with onions and garlic. I then make a thick sauce with the drippings. Put 'em next to a grilled sirloin, a dob of angel hair and some steamed asparagus; you have meal fit for a king.
Then, since I live alone, I EAT THE WHOLE DAMN THING!!
