one other point I just thought of....

This flu is targeting the normally healthy age group. Regular flus take their toll on the young and elderly. The 25-45 age group are usually the most likely to survive, not die.

The normal scenario is completely inverted.

I think someone explained that some folks may have a little immunity over a certain age to some strains of flu. That’s why it seems to hit the younger under 40 group harder.

Your observation is similar to that found in the 1918 flu epidemic which struck the youthful harder than others. It involves the virus invoking a stroonger immone response from the younger more powerful immune systems which actually hastened fatality. Young folks with good health died more quickly that older or younger folks. many of them turned blue iin color and died within a 24 hour period.Their lungs could not work to get oxygen into their blood.

This sounds similar in its action.
