MIDLAND - NewsWest 9 has just learned that a Midland ISD teacher has been arrested and charged with having an Improper Educator/Student Relationship.
On Thursday, MISD officials contacted the Midland Police Department after a teacher reported possible inappropriate activity between a student and a teacher.
23-year-old Kenzi Friday was arrested after an investigation. She is accused of having sexual relations with a 17-year-old male student. The relationship took place between the start of the school year through the beginning of April at a Midland home.
MISD says that Friday submitted her resignation Friday morning.
"These are very serious allegations and the entire situation is upsetting to us all," MISD Superintendent Dr. Sylvester Perez said in a news release. "We fully support the investigation and await more information from local law enforcement."
Additional information, via my secretary whose son goes to this high school is that the accused is the Varsity Cheerleading Coach and is "very fit."

I am fairly certain this is the right link, as following friends-of-friends I end up knowing some of the people.
Possibly not guilty. Or suspended sentence w/parole.
The real question though is why are all these older women unable to connect with age appropriate partners?
Yikes. At least she’s not someone I know! And she’s too young to have been any of my kid’s friends when we lived there. I gotta say, throw the book at her, no matter what she looks like. It’s completely inappropriate, and if she doesn’t know that she’s too stupid to be teaching anyway. Sheesh.
Because they are equal in maturity.
It would be tough for a 17 year old boy to turn that down.
Fire her from her job and that’s all.
The group of young adults coming up now are not concerned about age, sex, etc of their partners. They have been raised in an atmosphere of if you want it you should have it. We are reaping what has been sewn.

Well, she was 22 when this started and he is 17, going on 18.

Indeed, if she wasn’t a teacher at his school, it wouldn’t be illegal. Age of consent in Texas is 17.
17 to 23? Older women?
That is the same spread (no pun) in age as my wife and I.
Other than the kid being 17, I don’t really see a problem here. /sarc
Just ask our mayor here in Portland, he was grooming a 17 year old, bideing his time until the kid turned 18, then whamo! Right in the butt, Oh wait the were both males so that doesn’t count. At least not around here anyway.

This is still very different from the situation with the teacher who was in her 30’s and the 13 year old male student.
I wonder when this 17 year old’s birthday is.

Now THAT’S the truth. I’m in college and these young women are very, very immature.
