Jimmy Dean escapes house fire, sausage cooked to perfection

Jimmy Dean and his wife, Donna, escaped a late night fire to their Varina home last night. Everyone was okay but the home was significantly damaged.

Yes, when I read that Jimmy Dean had a house fire the first thing that came to my mind was breakfast sausage. I'm warped that way. If your late coming to this game called NashvilleGab you'll soon come to realize I'm just a dork so don't mind me.

Anyway, back to the fire. It was reported at 8:05 p.m. and was still not under control at 11:30 p.m. The home was large enough and secluded enough that it took eight engine companies, three tanker trucks, and two ladders to fight the blaze. They also had to shuttle water about a mile to get it to the residence.

Firefighters discovered fire from the “basement to the attic” when they arrived, Henrico fire Lt. Chris Buehren. The fire spread quickly because the “balloon-frame” house has no interior fire stops, he said.

“Tell him he’s fired.”

Bonus points if you know who the person to be fired is.

“James Bond movie “Diamonds are forever”. Jimmy Dean played a recluse Hotel Magnate, initials were W.W. I think... was alluding to Howard Hughes”

you are correct!

This was the one Bond movie where Connery really looked like what a real “agent” probably would. A little weary and paunchy at the age of 41.

And of course Saxby was played by original King Kong hero Bruce Cabot. One interesting tidbit I recently discovered was that Leonard Barr, who played the painfully unfunny acerbic nightclub comic Shady Tree, was Dean Martin’s uncle. I saw an old episode of Colgate Comedy Hour with him performing as an eccentric dancer.

Did you know that Bruce Glover, who played Mr. Wint is the father of Crispin Glover?

I live near Varina, VA. Heard about this that night. It is a shame. Jimmy Dean is reported to be a really nice guy by the locals. Wonder how the fire started.

I’m not sure I ever had it confirmed, but I’ve presumed it for a long time. They both project odd personalities, and there’s a bit of a resemblance.
