Do 'American Idol' voters discriminate against minorities, gays?

Off the top of my head, I can think of about two dozen adjectives, both positive and negative (well, mainly negative) to describe the program. Bigoted, though?
We run a live blog of each "American Idol" show and there was some interesting commentary last night upon the elimination of Lil Rounds (African-American) and Anoop Desai (Indian-American).
Mlive user getdownman posted this: "I can't shake the feeling that America is showing its 'True Colors' by voting off the most obvious minorities from the show when clearly from a talent contest, it did not add up. But to log onto the site it was even more of a confirmation that the next person on the chop block would be the one contestant that is the obvious next choice for removal. The gay guy. He's white and talented sure, but he's too gay so he's next whether he is or isn't more talented."
By "the gay guy," the reader is referring to Adam Lambert, who is heavily favored to become the next "Idol." But is talent enough? Does a performer also have to be totally WASP-y? And not gay?

Do people who vote for American Idol actually think their votes mean anything? Anyone who thinks Fox doesn’t control the field is kidding themselves.

Who were Jordin Sparks, Fantasia, and Clay Aiken?
I hate to admit, but I Idol and believe this is totally off base. First to point out that 3 african americans have won. Second, Clay Aiken finished second several years ago.
The example of Jennifer Hudson always get brought up, however, what about Chris Daughtry getting kicked off early and now is one of the top selling Idol Alum.
Finally, it was obvious that Lil Rounds has been the worst the last several weeks.

One cog in American Idol’s production machine says the show is completely fixed and that producers have already chosen the final four competitors.
According to an unnamed female production staffer, Danny Gokey, Lil Rounds, Adam Lambert and Alexis Grace will be seen in the finals.

But you should know that “Lil Rounds” was cut last night.
Well, YEAH! They made Opossum a winner in the November version of AI.
I think Lil Rounds got a pass for about 5 weeks BECAUSE she was black. We all kept waiting for her to kick it into Whitney Houston mode but she just didn’t have it in her.
Three of the seven winners have been minorities and Clay Aiken - who seemed quite fey at the time - had a huge run in Season 2.
Talk about manufacturing “controversy” where none exists. Could it be that maybe, just maybe, the minority woman didn’t advance because she hasn’t performed well? Nahhh.
Well if they did Lambert would be gone.

IMO, Lil nor Anoop Dog deserved to stay, although I don’t think Matt is deserving of staying either.
Lambert has it in the bag, IMHO, gay or not, the kid can sing.
What seems strange to me is that this columnist seems unconcerned that a Miss USA contestant lost right after her comments on traditional marriage.
One judge called her a “dumb b*tch” and another called her a stupid “c**t.”
Alexis Grace was wonderful and should have made the finals.

please vote that Adam dude off, his screaming kills me. It’s like he sings pretty good then he goes off on these high pitch screams like a 5 year old girl.
I picking Danny will win, but I think he may be gay to. I don’t vote just try to pick who’s best.
Akin did not win. The big black guy did. Can’t remember his name.
