The father of Sarah Palin's grandchild said Wednesday night that he might pursue legal action against the Alaska governor's family, who he says has cut off communication with him and are no longer letting him see their son Tripp.
Levi Johnston said during an interview on CNN's "Larry King Live" that he has hired an attorney in hopes of compelling former fiancé Bristol Palin to honor his visitation rights.

It is probably best for the child, mother and father that a court order be in place to determine custody rights such as conservatory, support, visitations, etc. such that these squabbles don’t continue to arise. In the long run the parents can work together or they can work against each other which most likely doesn’t help the child. Grandparents other than for advisory roles to the parents should get off out the scene and let these parents work out their problems, etc. It may just be that there would be a heck of a lot less sniping at each other, etc.
This was AFTER Levi had denied wanting "fame and fortune."
Poor guy is really a loser...as is his mother. The sister seemed to be the brightest, most articulate but she seems to enjoy the all the attention as well. She said that she thinks Bristol is jealous of her and her friends! Say what???
You are right - as the father he has rights and the child has a right to know his father. But if he is living with his drug dealing Mommy there might need to be an arrangement made for the assured safety of the baby.
You're talking to one honey.
any 19 year old is inadequate and no one is arguing that the Palin’s look better than his busted mom.
however they will not be able to keep the dad from his child if that is all they have.
his age and his wacky mom..
I agree, I am addressing those here who want the boy excluded based on his age and his troubled mom. That will not happen.
Likewise at some point if he is in his own home and working he can petition for expanded custody etc. The Palins as grandparents will not have the rights he does in the long run.
and I bet they know that already....their attorney might try to get a precluding arrangement now but I doubt that would hold up later
or more likely everyone here is reacting to media hype, that we really don't know what both parties really want....like I said I doubt the Palins intend to keep the boy away ...the opinions of some here notwithstanding
that is where it likely will be determined but like I have told unbelievers here, the boy will get some custoidy and vistitation with his child...mark my words.
Who says he can’t get some custody. If he pay child support he’s entitled to it. If he doesn’t then he’s not.
The family has every right to define this guy’s intentions. Where is he going to take the baby on the Larry @hole King Show. Talk about a bottom feeder, Larry King will have anyone on his show, whom he thinks will discredit republicans or conservatives.
Someone on FR overreacting? lol I think Levi is showing his true personality in attacking the Palins, and in the long run will not want the emotional or financial responsibility of raising a child. Right now this fight is getting him media coverage and I think many kids his age have a “Real World” view of fame and fortune - any exposure is good exposure.. so until the possibility of fame dies down, he is going to keep pushing to see the boy.
....when he starts to pay for the childs support.
I will tell you that whether you and many female nick freepers on this thread like it or not the boy will have some visitation and custody at some point with his child if he wants it. Period.
What facts do you have btw any more than I do. Much of it is media speculation..
The boy is simply not accountable for his mom's actions though it might affect child's domicile issues. I expect a guardian ad litum could determine these issues and present to the court. I never said the baby should be living in the mom's house as you did...I clarified it well enough, sorry you overlooked that.
btw....I'm on the side of the baby. If the daddy wants to be in the baby's life then he should be and most courts agree.
i have been through this extensively over a 4 year period, I doubt most of you have.
but don't fear, it's still heavily slanted towards the mom custody wise...it's one of post feminism's little hypocrisies
a dad has to be willing to really duke it out and the mom must be truly extremely unfit...just a regular over indulging bratty hollering but failing to follow through with discipline mom will still get primary custody.
I'm sure the Palin's will be great parents and I bet they will want the boy involved.
not paying child support does not suspend visitation
and like I said earlier...i could be wrong....I doubt a court mandated child support arrangement is in place yet for him to not be adhering to
in this sort of stuff, it's like a war.....first you put out news he's not paying child support and next you ask for a restraining order and whatnot
I love the Palin....in fact I think Sarah is fine as grits both literally and as Magnus’s inheritor but she ain't called Barracuda for nothing.
BTW...maybe you didn't notice but the Palin daughter has done of her share of interviews too to posture for this.
when any of ya’ll really find out what the deal is and have proof then by all means link it.
still...my stand here is that the boy gets visitation at least, some custody perhaps later and legally has more rights than the grandparents
an lawyers here wish to refute me then please do
so who's being objective now?
btw, you're ignoring the Palin daughter's love affair with media interviews aren't you?
but you're right it is a war and the media is what he has....they have a lot more juice than he does
but all this squabbling usually sputters out and folks get reasonable in time...we shall see
this is the early stage...I expect restraining orders to be flying soon enough..lol
it is very difficult to tell how many teen parenst have the gumption to raise a child...very...i sure don't know
You have a lovely little family! ok, not so little. :D
I don’t care how old he is, he can still be a good father. I hope he would be.
I agree that he should see his son.
i don’t agree that his mother’s drug habits will not be an issue, with her in the same house as Levi.
I know we don’t really know all the details and I’m perfectly willing to leave it to the principals in this case (i’m generous that way heehee), but I don’t care for this kid having the money for a lawyer and an agent, but not having money or job to support this child.
You’re both right.
Frankly, I don’t like this kid one bit, and I wish he would stay out of the limelight, and shut his trap.
However, Tripp is his child, and he has the right to be his father.
I hope he’ll grow up, quit being so self-centered, and be a good father.
Good point!
My husband and I were split up for almost 4 years and not only did he pay child support for our kids (we never went to court) but he also kept them on his insurance, always made sure they had everything they needed AND he would also help me out monetarily if something unexpected came up. All this even though I’m the one who acted like an ass and exited the relationship. Luckily I woke up and we’ve been happily remarried for 10 years.
I paid child support for 2 years after my ex left me and I paid more than I had to even I got custody first of my oldest daughter even before i had custody of number two.
and insurance etc....48,000 dollars a year to a woman who left me for a guy with private jet etc...
they are of course split now...but the damage they and their horrible drug addled and orgyish lifestyle wrought on my daughters would have been grounds for me to kill them both in older times
and I got a great southern belle now and three boys with her...things work out but the real losers were my daughters for the time being...one is still pretty damaged.
i had zero control over being divorced and having my kis taken from me.
and I thank God everyday for a decent family court judge and guardian ad litum...and my dad’s financial help
