There is no doubt in anyone's mind that leftists are complete and total hypocrites. They always have been, and they always will be.
Just for a moment, let's turn around the Miss America/Perez Hilton scandal. Let's suppose that a Christian became a judge (it could happen, there are a few popular ones in Hollyweird.) Let's also suppose that a "gay marriage" question is asked of one of the contestants. The contestant, who is leading, gives the standard leftwing drivel ("everyone should love everyone and let everyone do whatever they want to do, and make everything legal, except being mean to leftists".) The answer is as lucid and poised and any other contestant, just leftwing drivel.
The Christian judge proceeds to give the candidate a very low score (maybe even a zero.) The Christian also gives an interview to the news media (700 Club?) indicating that she believes that "Miss America is supposed to represent traditional American values and this candidate did not represent those. The judge could not, in good conscience, give her a good score for that non-traditional answer. The judge also indicates that that score kept the contestant from winning.
The left wing would obviously go ape-sh!t demanding the contestant be given the crown, the judge be censured, sued, etc.
How do FReepers respond to this judge? With the same disdain we had for Perez Hilton? Do we find a way to justify the judge's actions?
Your premise that the Christian judge would give a low or zero score or even ask the question is faulty.
What’s this got to do with FReepers?
1. You are dealing with hypotheticals, not reality.
2. You are creating a moral equivalency with mainstream law and accepted definitions versus those who want to challenge that.
Is that you, Perez?
Impossible.
my thoughts exactly
Can you imagine a ‘right wing Christian’ judge going off like Paris/Perez/Meghan/whatever? LOL.. Doubt it..
I think it was a question that should never have been asked by anyone.
Remember, 99.9% of hypocrisy is in the eye of the beholder ~ it's a mind trick ~ best you cut out your brain than that you walk about feeling offended by your target's free exercise of freedom.
My thought is that if the tables were turned, then the focus of “controversy” would properly be placed on the inappropriateness of the question, rather than on the answer.
ALL Human Beings, BAR NONE, are hypocrites.
We can sort them out into groups of mega hypocrites, small fry hypocrites and run of the mill hypocrites, but we are all hypocrites.
I agree, it’s a faulty premise.
Yeah, what the other two said! /sarc
I am!
Do as I say, Not As I Do!
Does that help?
If not, just watch the evening news...
May I call you Mario?
The question should not have been asked, period.
It is not a political event. It takes one sick radical leftist mind to want everything to be political. Literally everything.
Another good point, the other contestants (from what I’ve heard) where given the typical softball beauty pageant questions. This woman was targeted because of her beliefs.
“I agree, it’s a faulty premise.”
I loved John Cleese in that! ;)
The question was asked in the context of scoring contestants. We can, in good conscience, hoot and jeer at any such judge, who does not uphold the values that we espouse, or cheer and support one who does. So, no hypocrisy here.
My thoughts: you are wasting bandwidth.
