My body & soul My Body and Soul: Diana Rigg, actress, 60
Guardian UK ^ | Laura Potter

Are you healthy? For my age I'm quite good. I confess I do a lot of the wrong things: I smoke and I drink wine, and people might be horrified at my eating habits - I eat when I'm hungry and if I'm not I don't.

How much sleep do you need? A lot. Without it I'm a wimp. I become tearful and hopeless, like a child. I regard bed as my best friend.

Attitude to smoking? I smoke more than I should - 20 a day. I've smoked since I was 18 with intervals of not smoking when I was pregnant and when I've been ill. The curious part about it is I can go for hours without; getting on a plane and not smoking for 15 hours simply doesn't worry me at all.

And drugs? In my late 20s, early 30s, working in America I tried cocaine and amyl nitrate. I can't take pot, I just go to sleep. Obviously I don't touch them now. Many years ago when I was working on Broadway I used to go to a drug rehabilitation centre on Sundays. I didn't lecture them against the perils of drug-taking, I gave them drama therapy.

Is sex important to you? Not any more. I'm all for people of my age having a continued sex life, but although I had a wonderful sex life I'm perfectly reconciled and happy not to go there again.

that is about what I thought her age was also, 70 sounds about right. wasn’t, ‘The Avengers’ circa ‘65-’67 or so? I do not think she was a 16 or 17 year old spy.

Oh, my. The years have taken their toll. I still like here, no matter how she looks. I’m sure it’s the smoking above all else that has taken her looks away.

I was madly in love with her when I was a teenager in the ‘60s.

Wiki says she’s seventy now. If she was sixty that would have made her sixteen years old when she came on board the series in 1965.

I think she might fudging a few years on being 60. That means she would have been 16 when she first appeared as Emma Peel in October 1965.

I'm six years younger than Ms. Rigg, but she seemed a lot older when the show aired.

.

Wow! Nice work potlatch!

Genes gave up on her?

Mine are just dandy!

Chems, etc. can accelerate aging

I have seen people in the 20s & 30s look like they were easily 65-75+

Hell, I’m 73 and look better than that. And that was 23 yrs USMC. I did have a crush on her, though.

She’s been rode hard, and put away wet!

I ain't there - yet, but how do you think you're gonna look at 60; like you did in your 20's???

Then - Hubba, hubba.

And now

Diana is doing all right. And she's living her life, her way. Can't fault her for that.

Here's to you Mrs. Emma Peel, no matter your age.

I posted that to you last year when you posted her in the catsuit. I found a recent picture and put it on the catsuit so that isn’t her figure now.

I also am positive she lied about her age, she looks much older than 70 year old women I know, much!! But some people age better than others.

[Genes - Mine are just dandy!]
Lol, you look 20 yrs old, right??

I’m sure it’s the smoking above all else that has taken her looks away.

I find it mind boggling the amount of women who smoke cigarettes knowing the habit will prematurely age them.

She was born July 20, 1938. She’s going on 71.

She was a star on The Avengers back in 1966. If she was sixty, she only would have been 17. Not.

She is a very beautiful woman and a terrific actress.

Her Regan in the Laurence Olivier version of King Lear was quite good. She was a Royal Shakespeare Company actress in the early 60s before becoming Emma Peal.

Well, she doesn’t look like sh has gone in for botox treatments like most of the so called stars of today. I admire her and if she is 71 years old good for her. No one can stay young forever. I love those that bash someone because they haven’t aged well. Who knows what went on in someone’s life to make them age???? Wonder what all those who bash those who age look like themselves and...wonder what they will look like when they reach her age? Hmmmmm??
