Without THE BEATLES there would be no Stones. Not only did they pave the way for the Stones but they wrote their early hits and convinced them to start writing their own stuff.
So no Beatles no Stones.

Can’t disagree with Sgt. Pepper, but they left out some obvious choices:
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon
The Who - Tommy
The Who - Quadrophenia
King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King

“Pink Floyd easily could have contributed a few selections for top-shelf concept albums.”
I accidentally ruined two good speakers with ‘Welcome to the Machine”.

When I was stoned with my Koss headphones on it sounded pretty psychedelic. :-)

I don't know if it qualifies as a concept album, but ELP's Brain Salad Surgery has always been one of my faves.

OK, so this album didn't age so well. It sounded great to me thirty years ago.

I was going to mention Dream Theater if no one else did. Scenes From A Memory is a great concept album, and it qualifies a lot more than some of the others that have been mentioned. I mean, Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road aren’t really “Concept” albums, great though they are.

"Songs for John Doe" by the Almanac Singers, released in May, 1941, should qualify as a concept album, since it consists entirely of songs that protest against war, the draft, and even nonmilitary aid to Britain. The title was inspired by the film
Meet John Doe (1941)
