We used to bow hunt them too! LOTS of fun.

Every once in awhile we would nail one to a tree of some friend that couldn’t make the trip that day! But yes, the rest went to a few of the mom’s gardens.

I seem to recall though, that in France and England, carp is very highly rated as a game fish. (I’m guessing to eat as well?)

When I was about 15 I brought home 15 or so carp that I had shot and was going to put them in my mom’s gardens. I put them in a wheel barrel in the back yard and didn’t get back to them for five days. My dad wasn’t too happy with the stink, flies and maggots back there. He made me dispose of them by myself.

I did a short stint in Hanau, Germany which is just outside of Frankfurt and the hometown of the Brothers Grimm. One of the local delicacies was karpfen blau( blue carp)...which I found pretty tasty, if somewhat bony...
