Actually, it does, albeit not in a manner that Lucas might have invisioned.
Imagine what happened after the Rebel Alliance blew up the second Death Star.
The galaxy cheered like crazy, shown in the re-doing of Return of the Jedi.
What they DIDN'T show was the cheering from all of the galactic overlords and tyrants happily patting themselves on the back and arming their henchmen as they said, "WOO-HOO! No more EMPIRE! Now we get to be cruel and dictatorial again to the peoples in our systems!! YAYS!" as they plotted the violent takeover of other worlds.

his entire francise has just become a way to marekt misc toys and “collectible toys” that can’t come out of the packages lest they lose “value”.

There was a line that Anakin Skywalker said “You are either with me, or against me” and it raised many eyebrows that obviously drew comparisons of evil Anakin and evil Bush.

Yes, and the very next line, uttered by Obi-Wan Kenobi is something like, "Only a Sith speaks in absolutes," apparently oblivious to the fact that any declarative sentence that includes the word "only" is itself an absolute statement.

BTW...I don't buy Maureen's story. The timelines don't match.

If you read “The Secret History of Star Wars,” you will read, exhaustively, about how Darth Vader was never intended to be Luke’s father until he was written that way in a revised version of The Empire Strikes Back...but Lucas now claims he intended it that way all along. Even though there are previous drafts of scripts of both movies that say otherwise.
