This is certainly an interesting intellectual exercise, but what practical purpose would it serve?

Not to downplay the awesome-ness of this photo, but it looks like the plane has been gutted.

Still impressive, though.

This is a marvelous example of Russian engineering. They are masters of brute force engineering.

Only [safe] way a Russian jetliner can "fly" is if it's carried, my friend.

How's that for practical. :o)

If the planes engines cut out, the plane could still make it to its destination.

Wait a minute. This plane doesn't have engines.

Heavy lift helicopters are useful in construction, rescue, and war.

That said, this could just be a stunt and the lift capacity of the helicopter isn't anything unusual.

Apparently, the plane is too old to fly on its power. They are reportedly trying to use it for training exercise of sorts.

If a female pilot parked the big plane badly, the helocopter could just pick it up and move it? ;^)

Do I see Looter Guy in the cockpit of the aircraft?

While that helicopter is amazing, I am more impressed by the cables that are holding that plane with ONE cable.

More than likely, this hulk of a former small transport plane is being heli-lifted to a park area where it will become a playground toy for children. If you’ve ever been to Russia, you would understant that my comment is not a joke.

It's a good idea if the plane cannot fly under its own power, and needs to be brought somewhere for needed repairs, and it's easier to bring it to the repair facilities than bring the repair facilities to the plane.

It's not like you can put a plane on the back of a truck and make it fit under overpasses.

I think the back of the plane is blue. Is this Hillary’s State Dept plane. It may represent our willingness to have Putin do the heavy lifting with Iranian foreign policy.

True story I kid you not told to me by the very pilot that did it.

A CH-46 was shot up on top of a mountain by the VC and was unable to fly off the top. So A CH-53 was sent to remove it.

The crew had folded the rotor blades and prepared it to be lifted, the CH-53 came in and tried to lift it but the day was so hot that they could not (jet turbines don’t work at peak power on hot days).

So they un hooked and told the crew to remove the rotor blades while they burned off some fuel to lighten the load on the CH-53.

The Pilot flew around while the crew removed the rotor blades then went back to pick up the CH-46. With a great tug they lifted the CH-46 off the mountain and flew it back to base.

On the way back the pilot had a question for the crew of the CH-46....

“While I was hovering over your bird I didn’t see your rotor blades, What did you do with them?”

“well sir we didn’t want them to fall into Charlie’s hands so WE PUT THEM INSIDE THE AIRCRAFT!!!!

The Best “Russian” Helicopters are made by Sikorsky!
