This is certainly an interesting intellectual exercise, but what practical purpose would it serve?

"This is certainly an interesting intellectual exercise, but what practical purpose would it serve?" Only [safe] way a Russian jetliner can "fly" is if it's carried, my friend.
How's that for practical. :o)

This is certainly an interesting intellectual exercise, but what practical purpose would it serve? If the planes engines cut out, the plane could still make it to its destination.
Wait a minute. This plane doesn't have engines.

what practical purpose would it serve?Heavy lift helicopters are useful in construction, rescue, and war.
That said, this could just be a stunt and the lift capacity of the helicopter isn't anything unusual.

Apparently, the plane is too old to fly on its power. They are reportedly trying to use it for training exercise of sorts.

If a female pilot parked the big plane badly, the helocopter could just pick it up and move it? ;^)

This is certainly an interesting intellectual exercise, but what practical purpose would it serve? It's a good idea if the plane cannot fly under its own power, and needs to be brought somewhere for needed repairs, and it's easier to bring it to the repair facilities than bring the repair facilities to the plane.
It's not like you can put a plane on the back of a truck and make it fit under overpasses.

Helicopters haul all sorts of cargo. Generally the practical purpose is to deliver that cargo someplace that ground or other transport cannot reach. In case you didn't know, helicopters can take off and land vertically giving them an advantage in delivering cargo to otherwise inaccessible places. This helicopter could land the airplane on top of a building or on an island if thats where they wanted it.
