The song title "Cry Me A River" brings Justin Timberlake to mind for Generation Y. But that is likely to change thanks to Susan Boyle, the Scottish singing sensation whose Britain's Got Talent appearance wooed millions of broadcast and online viewers.
Boyle's moving rendition of "Cry Me A River" was uploaded to YouTube Thursday night, sparking further interest and frenzy over the extremely talented singer.
Boyle's "Cry Me A River" is a remake of the blues standard, not Timberlake's pop ballad. Boyle's track went virtually unnoticed when it was independently released 10 years ago on a charity CD reported Times Online. The Whitburn Community Council in West Lothian only pressed 1,000 copies of The Millennium Celebration compilation.

Now you say you love me,
You cried the whole night through.
Well you can cry me a river,
Cry me a river,
I cried a river over you.
Now you say your sorry,
For bein’ so untrue.
Well you can cry me a river,
Cry me a river,
I cried a river over you.
You drove me, nearly drove me,
Out of my head;
While you never shed a tear.
Remember, I remember,
All that you said;
You told me love was too plebian,
Told me you were through with me-
And Now you say you love me,
Well, just to prove you do, cry me a river,
Cry me a river,
I cried a river over you.
Susan, my dear....don’t let the Hollyweirdos change a single hair in your eyebrows. Stay exactly as you are and just keep singing.
It’s almost as if some guy in Hollywood wrote this.
The ONLY version of “Cry Me A River” worth anything is by Joe Cocker.
Amazing I hope she wins God given talent.
Awwwwwww. You sound like me. I love good Jazz in the background....good view..good cocktails...........
OK. I’m waking up, now. Hubby and two kids.......REALITY! LOL!
“Mom????? Where’s my field trip shirt?”
The ONLY version of Cry Me A River worth anything is by Joe Cocker.

Had the absolute privilege to see him perform in Sheffield, England a few years back. Great concert.
The only version I know of is Julie London's, from the fall of 1955.
Listen to Boyle

Susan Boyle - Cry Me A River - 1999 Recording
Lol, Rush, Lol. I started having fantasies about being Sean Hannity’s wife last night and then woke up to the reality that he is already happily married and I am eighteen years older than him and we have never met, nor in all likelihood, will we. Oh well. But hey, we can dream, can’t we? and why can’t you go to the piano bar with the hubby and have a couple of drinks whilst listening to good jazz????
But it has occurred to me that the people who produce this show know that, and may have dowdied up her appearance for this show. They may have plans to turn this "ugly duckling" (please forgive me for the classic reference) into a swan over the course of the show's run this year. And I'll be glad to be a sucker for it!
Simon Cowell likes what he hears, but won’t kiss Susan Boyle
i’ve been a fan of Joe Cocker for ages & if it’s a male singing he’s the one.
What’s remarkable about Miss Boyle’s singing rendition is the restrained pathos , she doesn’t overwork it- rather weaves it, quite amazing actually.
So she wears no makeup, has killer brows, and doesn't do much with her hair. She looked like anybody's dear old mum and very normal. Not ugly, just normal.
In any case, her singing ability should be what carries the day, and nothing else. Life doesn't always work out that way, but she's gone from complete unknown almost to household word in the space of a week, that should provide enough of an audience to support her future singing endeavors no matter what happens on this so-called 'reality' show.
