The constitutional convention would be a toughie. I guess there are too many counties for each to send a representative, but if you divide the place up by cities you’re going to get an over-representation of blue.

No problem supplying aid to RUSA (Rump USA), since we’ll be a first-world country and can be generous.
...of course we would have the right to demand reforms in RUSA, such as climbing down in the sewer, picking up the Constitution, cleaning it off, reading it, and then following it.

Thanks, and I didn’t use the word “secession” until yesterday...once we came out of the closet. I still can’t talk to my parents about it (they live in Blue States), but they claim to be tolerant and, hopefully, they’ll understand that I’m only supporting this to lead a happy life.

...but would we want it. It’s not like it’s virgin land, save for a few natives. The best approach is to set an example for them. Show them what freedom means. Perhaps Radio Free America could transmit from Lubbock (getting around their Fairness Doctrine). But it will be a long journey.
Nobody is talking about violence but you and your ilk. As far as what I think about your "heroic" GGGG father, you don't want to know what I am thinking.
Instead of talking secession, I think it would be more productive to talk about the individual States calling a Constitutional Convention.
“Article Five of the United States Constitution describes the process whereby the Constitution may be altered. Such amendments may be proposed...by a national convention assembled at the request of the legislatures of at least two-thirds of the several states. To become valid, amendments must then be ratified by either the legislatures of or ratifying conventions held in three-fourths of the several states, and may not deny any state its equal right to vote in the Senate without its consent.”
In past, the threat of the States calling a Constitutional Amendment was such that the US Congress had to agree to their demands, but for a single amendment.
But in this case, the Constitutional Convention would essentially be proposed to *disassemble* those parts of the federal government that were created without Constitutional authority—a much harder proposition.
All the interest groups would want to pressure the Convention to enshrine their particular program into the Constitution. Currently illegal things, like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and other government bloat. At the same time, there would be as much or more pressure to *remove* parts of the Bill of Rights, especially the 2nd Amendment.
The pressure would be so intense that the Constitutional Convention would almost have to meet in secret. And each and every thing they decided would have to be approved by 3/4ths of the States.
There is no practical way for the Constitutional Convention to be restricted to a limited process. The entire Constitution would therefore be up for grabs.
It is likely that many congressmen and senators would use every bit of power and influence at their command to become delegates to the convention, many of them determined to derail it in any way they could. States vary in how they would select their delegates, either by vote of their Legislature or by popular vote.
The political parties would also pull out all stops to become enshrined in the Constitution as well. Because they are to a great extent responsible for the problems we have today, they are in no hurry to have their power diminished, or the political playing field leveled for other parties.

In other words, you would join the Communists/Socialists/Muslims etc. to go out and try and kill the traditional Americans who only want to get away from this scum.

Heck, I love this country too...as it was (rather than as it should be) would have even been ok with me. But the country my kids are about to get will be a debt-ridden miserable place...it has to happen, we cannot print trillions, shut down industry, and socialize a huge chunk of the economy, without a HUGE cost down the road. And they are DETERMINED to stay on this path. We are going to be Third World...and I really believe that is the goal of our President (that is who he and his people are...they cannot help it).
So, to me, it’s not America versus an independent Texas, rather its an independent Texas versus a third-world has been.
I think we ought to make a determined effort to get Texas to secede - so we can get these folks out of our hair for once and for all !

We lived in Arlington for nearly 4 years in the 70s. Both my sons were born in Texas. Loved it there. Would go back in a minute — especially if the Big S happens.
After losing his 3rd run for Congress, Tennessean Davey Crockett delivered the shortest concession speech in history: “Ya’ll can go to hell. I’m going to Texas.” We all know what happened at the Alamo.
Something equally momentous happened at the Alamo on April 15th, 2009
While that earlier action was a tragedy, THAT battle set the stage for the success at San Jacinto a bit later and the Republic of Texas was on the way.
Might I suggest that the next rally take place at the San Jacinto Monument — after Texas tells Washington to “go to hell.”
