In a week, Susan Boyle has gone from karaoke and her local church choir to global fame and an invitation to the Oprah Winfrey show. The frumpy 47-year-old, who says she's never been kissed, has gained celebrity fans and millions of admirers including a fair number of men since she wowed judges on the TV show "Britain's Got Talent." Her fame has been fueled by new technology, with a clip of her performance viewed more than 12 million times on Google's YouTube video site. "Susan can't help herself, she just sings whenever she can sing," said Jackie Russell, the manager of the Happy Valley Hotel in Blackburn, Scotland, where Boyle occasionally sings karaoke. "We weren't surprised by her talent, but we were surprised by the reaction around the world."

Gee thanks. i will search for it.
Don’t you think she is singing her life — never married, never been kissed, took care of her mother for two years before she died, bullied as a kid, etc.

I did not know that.......
Yes, I think she is. That, as I said, is part of the impact.
I know! It is as if, when the music begins, she knows she is about to blow all of the naysayers out of the water. But instead of profanity or obscene gestures, she takes us with her as her voice lifts us that much closer to God.
This was a Broadway performance. She just doesn’t look the way people expect.
Excellent projection, eloquent, with poise, and inspiring.
She needs to get a gig on Broadway.

The lyrics
###
I Dreamed A Dream
There was a time when men were kind,
And their voices were soft,
And their words inviting.
There was a time when love was blind,
And the world was a song,
And the song was exciting.
There was a time when it all went wrong...
I dreamed a dream in time gone by,
When hope was high and life, worth living.
I dreamed that love would never die,
I dreamed that God would be forgiving.
Then I was young and unafraid,
And dreams were made and used and wasted.
There was no ransom to be paid,
No song unsung, no wine, untasted.
But the tigers come at night,
With their voices soft as thunder,
As they tear your hope apart,
And they turn your dream to shame.
He slept a summer by my side,
He filled my days with endless wonder...
He took my childhood in his stride,
But he was gone when autumn came!
And still I dream he’ll come to me,
That we will live the years together,
But there are dreams that cannot be,
And there are storms we cannot weather!
I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I’m living,
So different now from what it seemed...
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed...

How much those words seem so in sync with Susan’s life.
God bless and protect her and lead her to the happiness she desires. She’s an innocent .. hopefully, some good soul will properly shepherd and guide her.
Thank you.
She sang the song, at leaset half of it on Good Morning America this morning...I saw it...she was just as good with no music!
If the gal was a typical attractive girl you’d think “great voice” but so do a lot of great singers. The lead up and surprise factor make this incredibly charming. And it was expertly played by the producers who obviously knew they had a gem—focusing on the sneering girl and so forth. Cowell knows how to make great TV. If they’re smart they face her off against a gorgeous but vain and condescending opponent. The masses will eat it up.
My wife (leda) has an exercise planned for her elementary school class - she plans to put up Susan’s picture, and invite the kids to brainstorm adjectives and adverbs.
Then she is going to play the video, and have the kids redo the exercise.
So?
Go here and listen to this command performane by Kuhn for Ronald Reagan, then:

Wonderful!!! I hope the message resonates with them. I teach high school, and I played the video for two of my students who were in the office with me. You could hear the proverbial pin drop when she sang!! To God be the Glory!
She teaches SpED, so yeah, I think it will resonate.
I think so, too! God bless!
Obviously Cowell is great at taking advantage of preconceived notions. I wish in the American Idol here we would have something a little more substantial than we have.
I does not take away from her talent, but it points out to many how foolish we are with appearances rather than real talent.
Britney Spears be damned.
Excellent link - thanks.
