Yankee Stadium debuts today. The Indians have just scored 9 runs in the 7th inning to take a 10-1 lead, including a grand slam. NYY bullpen falls apart.

Double play!
Yankees lose! Theeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankees lose!

I should have added that the Mets lost the opening game in their new stadium 6-5. The go-ahead run resulted from a three-base error and a balk.

I hope this doesn’t happen September 20th when the Dallas Cowboys opens their new play pen.

As a Boston fan. Cleveland rocks!

So did we lose the first two at Citi or not? I know they won their last one, but what was the opening record?
What cost us a lot of games last year? Couldn't protect leads. Did our bullpen let us down? Did the Yanks bullpen crumble in this game? Just checking the facts.

why do you keep saying 'we' and then 'they?'
are you a mets fan? if so, how do you not know that the mets have only played 2 at citi and they are 1-1? they are playing the third game right now.

I have been more or less following the team from afar in recent years, but started watching back in '62 in my early teen years. Growing up in NJ it was either root for the Skanks, Mutts, or Phils. Since I hate Philly and couldn't stand the Yanks in those days (other than Mantle and Maris), the Mutts it was. I don't live in the area anymore and so don't get daily updates other than when I have time to check the online scores. I saw the story about dropping the inaugural game at the new park but didn't hear right about the second.
As far as varying the diction a bit on the pronouns, I have been around on FR for a long time and thought we were allowed to do that. I mean, I didn't think the grammar Nazis had gotten that anal.

Beautiful stadium. We enjoyed Babe Ruth Plaza and Monument Field. Oh they lost, we still had a great time!

I wonder if they retrieved that first home run for Cooperstown. In the first Yankees game at their new stadium, they were saving all sorts of baseballs that were the first whatever. The first grand slam was by a player on the other team so a fan threw it back on the field and they retrieved that for Cooperstown.
The Mets lost the first and third games by scores of 6-5 and won the middle game by a score of 7-2...so they scored more runs in the series than the Padres but only won one game out of three. Gore voters would understand that that is deeply unfair (since they are stil mad that he won fewer electoral votes despite having a popular vote plurality).

Not to mention the Skanks in the 1960 WS. They outscored the Pirates something like 55-27, 10 home runs to four, batting was like 0.366 to something around 0.250. Still lost the Series. Games count, not total runs. You have to win states, not necessarily total PV. Scoring runs certainly helps win the games, but better to portion them and win a lot of close games versus winning a few blowouts. The Founders understand the value of that for political cohesion of a diverse and geographically dispersed federal Republic.

The Yanks continue to impress their fans...not...in their
new stadium. Today they gave up only 14 runs vs. last place
Cle. in the second inning. Now it’s 20-2 Indians in the 6th...
Teixera hit a 2 run homer in bottom first and that’s been it so far

21-4 Cle in the 8th. Lots of expensive seats, empty
