He's not the guy they say he is now, either.
Nishnic said his former father-in-law moaned in pain as he was placed in the wheelchair.
It was horrendous. He was in such pain. I wouldn't want to see anyone go through something like that,” said granddaughter Olivia Nishnic, 20.”
While I'm sure this was hard on his family, it was infinitely more painful for the 29,000 who died and their families (if they survived).
I know what the guy is accused of & I’m probably inviting flames by saying so, but there is something very wrong with a system that requires an 89 year old wheelchair bound person, who’s remaining life can probably be measured in weeks, be dragged off & deported.
Pat, while irritating to many of us on so many topics, makes a good case for this being an over-zealous government witch hunt.
Northeast OHIO PING, please!
He’s alive for two reasons. One, the Soviet Union collapsed (he was originally deported based on Soviet forged evidence). Two, he had an absolute pit bull of an Israeli attorney, Yoram Sheftl. Sheftl’s book about the case makes it clear that one need not be anything remotely resembling a Shoah revisionist to believe that something stinks about this case.
Unfortunately for him he embarrased several people and institutions, and memories are long.
