WASHINGTON Former Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska turned down a plea offer from federal prosecutors that would have spared him a trial and jail time but required him to plead guilty to a single felony count, according to newly disclosed records.
Lawyers for Mr. Stevens rejected the proposal on his behalf, according to transcripts of discussions between the trial judge and lawyers for both sides, which were recently ordered unsealed by Judge Emmet G. Sullivan.

Having watched Ollie North and Scooter Libby go through trials in that same court, I don’t know that I’d have taken my change that ‘justice would be served.’
A DC jury is never going to find for a white conservative Republican (or any combo thereof). Thankfully, Judge Sullivan took control and the DOJ prosecutors will face their own justice.
He was Nifong’ed and they all know it.
I hope they have the same thing happen to them as happened to Nifong (where is he flipping burgers now?)
