So the Parks and Recreation department is going to use a special machine to detonate some of the 100 to 150 rodents that are tearing up the grounds.
The machine is called the Rodenator Pro. It pumps propane and oxygen into the tunnels of squirrels, then sends an electric spark that causes an explosion. The shock waves kill the squirrels and collapse their tunnels.

Actually, they chew the fire out of my log house. I have a lot of repairs to do because of those rats with blow driers. We shoot as many as we can get to.
A great solution..... squirrel catapault. http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/671128/
The poster of the comment I was replying to said that the town was making people get rid of the squirrels. I would assume they had the permission of the fish and game dept. of whatever state he is in. I am 67 years old, have been hunting since I was 12,I don’t need some do gooder telling me what can or can’t be done regarding game animals. BTW, some states do allow air rifles for hunting squirrels.
Had a standing offer from my grandmother from the time I was about 10 or 12. 50 cents apiece to shoot the squirrels out of her pecan trees.
We didn’t have any of the ground versions.
but I guess I meant to say all animals are 'meat' and a good bbq sauce will go a looooong way in the upcoming husseinonomics farm bill...
hey squantos...if I triple the charge, will that save $$$ on charcoal lighter ???
All they really need is a few good terriers. My dog has volunteered.
A pellet gun would work but I prefer something that goes boom - or at least bang.
But at the rate they are chewing up plastic resin yard furniture & stuff they might die anyway. Funny, we never had the problem with them chewing up that kind of stuff til this year, and the neighbors are seeing it to. They are eating it or at least carrying it off - there's a huge hole in the trash can and not near enough chips on the ground to make the hole.
Most other varmints aren't game and can be blasted at will with whatever ya got, I believe. AKs, ARs, Mini-14s, of course 10-22s and most any other hi cap are popular weapons on the sage rat hunts.
Why never acceptable??

It seems cruel, and I don’t like the idea of making any animal suffer if it’s not necessary. Rats - yeah, good point there. Mice? I’d prefer catch and release. Squirrels just don’t seem like they’re in the same category, although I guess they’re rodents.
I guess I’m in the minority here. :)
I like squirrels too.
I just think that blowing up pests, or shooting them, is far, far better than using poison.
Nearly everyone here has a relative or friend who was killed or crippled when their horse stepped into one of these holes and broke a leg.
I might actually agree with that, because I think poison is painful and makes the animal linger. IF the squireel population needs to be reduced. They’re cute little things, though, and they seem benign. I hope it doesn’t come to this.
That activity calls for the death sentence.
Whoa...expensive! I’ll stick with my BB rifle.
See the post above yours. They are eating the wood on our house, although the chinking is getting chewed up as well. We have lots and lots of repair to do, and nothing seems to keep them away. Our only choice is to kill them, since nothing else works.
We even asked the local TWRA agent what to do. He suggested peanut butter on rat traps. Mr G said.. "And then?" The guy said "kill them!"
Do gooder?
That's funny, try and warn someone that they might be in violation of they're states game laws and ya get called a “Do Gooder”. Your a hard man. I believe I said most states not all states.
Don't do it in TX!
Squirrels are nothing less than rats with furry tails.
My house suffered thousands of dollars damage from squirrels digging through the fascia and taking up residence in the attic while I was away on vacation.
I’d be quite happy if the little vermin disappeared forever.
