UFO or not UFO? Area 51 declassifying pours cold water on theory..
The Tech Herald ^ | April 12th, 2009 | Rich Bowden

A former engineer at the top secret airfield "Area 51" in Nevada has spoken out about UFO sightings in the region in the 1960s, saying the witnessed flashes of light were part of top secret US aircraft experiments.

In an interview with ABC News, Thornton "T.D." Barnes, 72, a former special-projects engineer at Area 51 said: "No one really knew we existed. Even our wives didn't know where we were going when we left Monday morning and came back Friday evening."

Barnes was an electronics engineer for NASA who also specialised in advance radar and Soviet MiG fighter aircraft and was asked to join a team of CIA experts who would work on secret military projects at the infamous base.

UFO folklore has it that Area 51, about 80 miles north northwest of Las Vegas, is where captured aliens and their spacecraft have been stored by the US military. The conspiracy theory comes in part because of the preponderance of strange, unaccounted for lights that have been seen in the region of the top secret military base.

However Barnes poured cold water on the theory saying the "alien spaceships" were in fact light flashes from top secret spy planes being flown at 2,000 miles per hour at altitudes of 90,000 feet.

The experimental planes produced light flashes that some interpreted as alien spaceships and this was considered helpful by the team in covering their activities.

"We considered it to be a bonus," said Barnes. "They made it easier to conceal what we were doing."

However some ufologists have said the area has only been partly declassified and UFO work at the base may well have carried out though in a region unknown to engineers such as Barnes.

"Those guys who came forward may very well be telling the truth, with the caveat that they wouldn't know if there was something going on," said Stanton T. Friedman, a nuclear physicist, lecturer and top UFO researcher.

Friedman added that evidence coming out of places such as Area 51 proved how much was going on in the country without peoples' knowledge.

"National security has a real place in all of this stuff. There is no way to tell your friends without telling your enemies," he said. "A lot of Americans woke up to the fact that there's a lot going on that they don't get told about."

The Roswell incident IMO was the beginning of the Alien Invasion Controversy it is also when we as a people developed the Technological Age.....

I am not saying human beings are idiots, but we are no where near advanced as Aliens or the powers of heaven...

We are not called for that..We are called to be faithful servants of GOD to learn to love GOD and each other...

GOD does not care that we should develop Cell Phones and Computers (Nuclear Bombs) but Satan would, because that would enable him to create the New World Order....

So IMO Roswell were Demons...The prophecy of Daniel that said the End Days knowledge would be increased......

The technological age started well before Roswell. As I already pointed out, by the time Roswell happened humans already had jets, rockets, radar, computers and nuclear weapons.

Cell phones and computers help us be faithful servants and love God and each other. Tools of mass communication are actually really good for that.

With a couple of localized blips like the Dark Ages knowledge has increasing pretty steadily throughout human history. That’s kind of what we do, we learn.

And really bad as well..

Pedophiles on the Internet

Children that no longer know how to establish relationships and use a machine to socialize, instead of learning how to play and get along with other’s.....

As I said Satan has control of the world but GOD is always in control of him, so yes he can also create a enviroment where we can share the gospel message with use of our computers....

I do not think before 1947 we were considered technically savvy...

Pedophiles were long before the internet.

We’re using a machine to socialize, it ain’t that bad. And really not going out and playing is faulty parenting not technology.

Depends on how you look at things. Compared to NOW yes 1947 technology wasn’t terribly savvy. Of course compared to 1947 1890s technology wasn’t terribly savvy. But we did have some pretty kick ass technology in 1947 and were on the path to developing more. In general the age of technology is considered to have started with the industrial revolution, that’s when we started making gadgets that would re-invent the world.

Thx.

Right. I didn’t characterize it correctly.

Thanks.

Some folks have insisted that Lucent was consciously and deliberately chosen as a spin-off from Lucifer because the Luciferian Oligarchy is in charge of all such.

Wouldn’t surprise me any.

1947 In most areas of consumer goods demand outstripped supply in the US and the British car makers took advantage of these shortages by exporting as many cars as they could to help boost British jobs and economy and many Americans liked the idiosyncrasies from these British cars like Austin, Hillman and MG’s.

This year saw some of the most significant inventions that would impact lives for many years to come including the Transistor and the Mobile Phone. The start of the Cold War which lasted close to 4 decades is also seen as the Worlds two Super Powers USA and USSR worry about the dominance, politics and influence of each other on the other countries in the world. And many couples started lives living with parents due to the continuing shortages in housing

Alien Influence? we don’t know...

NONSENSE.

The sightings that have been vetted, distilled out as authentic

are incredibly unique . . . strange . . . ‘other’ . . . etc. sorts of stuff.

blindly ignoring such facts and evidence

is foolish to the max.

Some folks think all the UFO ping list folks 100% ignoring 100% of all naysayers on such threads would be the wisest stance.

They are, no doubt, right.

But that’s not near as much fun. Besides, going back and forth with ignorant naysayers does keep the threads bumped up and does provide a kind of perverse energy to the threads.

Besides, it sets the naysayers up royally to look exceedingly beyond stupid when things really do fall out of the skies into everyone’s nightly CNN and laps.

So go right ahead, maintain that death-grip on ignorance about the topic. It’s a lot more fun that way.

Depends on what one

defines as verifiable.

Multiple witnesses with professional observations training, skills and track record . . . have convicted a lot of murderers and sent them to execution on

TONS LESS

evidence than the better UFO cases have.

And NOT ONE SINGLE NAYSAYER HEREON

has EVER dealt with the fact below in any remotely fitting, logical, rational way ever on these threads. Actually, I can’t recall any of them dealing with it AT ALL.

Happy to oblige . . . sort of.

Nothing personal, per se.

But I have no trouble retorting in kind to silly obsurd rocks and rotten eggs thrown in our direction.

On the one hand it jangles some of my primary values and sensibilities. On the other, it’s the only way that seems available to showing a mirror to the naysayers about their attitudes and absurdities.

BTTTTTTTTTT

We’ve been around these threads long enough to know it’s just not worth the bother.

FOLKS WHO GENUINELY WANT INFORMATION AND TO CONSIDER THE INFORMATION FAIRLY

CAN FIND ALL KINDS OF SITES TO INVESTIGATE

STANTON FRIEDMAN HAS A GREAT SITE.

LINDA MOULTON HOWE’S

is a great site.

has tons of great data.

is a great site.

MUFON
NICAP,
etc. are great sites.

is a great site.

Most of us PING LIST members have no need at all to be research slaves for naysayers who have never shown the slightest evidence of any capacity or willingness to consider info fairly.

Interesting.

Great absurdities in your expectations reign again!

The carvings and artwork are not near as vague as you assert.

DEMANDING A MODERN NARRATIVE from 2,000 years ago or so seems a bit . . . excessive . . . fairly typical of those ADDICTED TO TYPE II ERRORS.

LOL.
