A former engineer at the top secret airfield "Area 51" in Nevada has spoken out about UFO sightings in the region in the 1960s, saying the witnessed flashes of light were part of top secret US aircraft experiments.
In an interview with ABC News, Thornton "T.D." Barnes, 72, a former special-projects engineer at Area 51 said: "No one really knew we existed. Even our wives didn't know where we were going when we left Monday morning and came back Friday evening."
Barnes was an electronics engineer for NASA who also specialised in advance radar and Soviet MiG fighter aircraft and was asked to join a team of CIA experts who would work on secret military projects at the infamous base.
UFO folklore has it that Area 51, about 80 miles north northwest of Las Vegas, is where captured aliens and their spacecraft have been stored by the US military. The conspiracy theory comes in part because of the preponderance of strange, unaccounted for lights that have been seen in the region of the top secret military base.
However Barnes poured cold water on the theory saying the "alien spaceships" were in fact light flashes from top secret spy planes being flown at 2,000 miles per hour at altitudes of 90,000 feet.
The experimental planes produced light flashes that some interpreted as alien spaceships and this was considered helpful by the team in covering their activities.
"We considered it to be a bonus," said Barnes. "They made it easier to conceal what we were doing."
However some ufologists have said the area has only been partly declassified and UFO work at the base may well have carried out though in a region unknown to engineers such as Barnes.
"Those guys who came forward may very well be telling the truth, with the caveat that they wouldn't know if there was something going on," said Stanton T. Friedman, a nuclear physicist, lecturer and top UFO researcher.
Friedman added that evidence coming out of places such as Area 51 proved how much was going on in the country without peoples' knowledge.
"National security has a real place in all of this stuff. There is no way to tell your friends without telling your enemies," he said. "A lot of Americans woke up to the fact that there's a lot going on that they don't get told about."
Then spend time reading your bible and seeking wisdom
Before you get caught up in Alien Deception....
There’s nothing about aliens in the Bible. And there is no alien deception. And you really need professional help if you believe even half the stuff you’ve said in this thread.
Stop saying Aliens...
Yes their is...Much is said about Demons.....
People who believe the Word of GOD do not need professional help....
Maybe you need to study more instead of scoffing....
No. I’m going to keep saying aliens because that is what the vast majority of believers think are in UFOs, and you’ve presented absolutely NOTHING that shows aliens and demons are even remotely related.
You’ve gone waaaaaaaaaaaay past believing the Word of God. There’s nothing in the Word of God that links demons and aliens.
Maybe you need to scoff more instead of believing every haired brained thing that you read.
TRY AGAIN....
WHO ARE THE FALLEN ANGELS RAZORBOY?
Fallen Angels
The Bible is full of accounts of Israel dealing with hybrids. Genesis 6:4 says, “There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that.” They are also referred to as Rephaim, Annunaki (sons of Annuk), Emim, Zamzummim, “also after that” is referring to the Nephilim who were again found in the land of Canaan Numbers: 13:33, “And there we saw giants, the sons of Annak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, so we were in their sight.” The word Nephilim means “violent” “causing to fall” “wonder” “prodigies” or “monsters”
When fallen angels shape-shift into a human form, they can have intercourse but not without some aberrant genetic changes. The union of these beasts with humans produced children that were different in many ways. The first apparent difference was that they developed giantism. They were giants or Nephilim. Og, the King of Bashan, had a bed that was 13 to 15 feet long; and Goliath was 6 cubits tall (9 feet). The second aberration was that they had six fingers and six toes.
The aberrant genetic defects of the Nephilim were unfortunately cloned into the DNA of mankind. These dormant genetic tendencies still surface today at times in different people; however, most of the noticeable DNA defects have been perfected over the centuries to where hybrids can easily be born into a society that never suspects them of being other than completely human.
But there’s nothing that links fallen angels and aliens.
Well define Alien?

Alien. Something from not here that got here on a space ship.
The Von Däniken crowd goes way beyond the FRingies. What’s always bothered me is he’s such an atrocious writer and he can’t string together a single paragraph without contradicting himself. And yet people eat his junk up.
Regarding semantics, not really. I guess the biger picture here is that the narrow experience of the A51 workers is being used to “explain” UFO’s. That is an opinion on the part of those workers, and as Friedman explained, they would be confined to their project, and probably would not know about UFO work that may or may not have been taking place. There is more than a bit of sleight-of-hand being used by the writer of the article about these guys. That is not to say there is anything bad about the men, or even dishonest. Whether he had an axe to grind on ufology in general or not, his statement was more honest than the implication made by the author.
The reason why this “semantic” is important is that it gets very hard to have a discussion of otherwise logical circumstances when the messenger (Friedman) overshadows the message. I’m saying that people should apply critical thinking, despite the messenger.
“I said it earlier; something that fundamentally changes our understanding of the universe. Right now, we don’t if extraterrestrials exist. Proof of a positive would change mankind forever, even if it was just an intelligent radio signal.”
You’re right, you did say that, and I agree. There is still science that has relied on less data to be accepted. That is part of my irritation. A quark was never threatening, but vehicles in our skies or possibly alien creatures that are not under our control or knowledge, that is scary. Humans tend to rule out things that are simulataneously scary and uncontrollable, as a defense mechanism. Our intellect should be able to operate in spite of that mechanism, but not for everybody.
“Your first sentence defines cryptozoology. The second sentence on the other hand, references an animal that left reproducible, verifiable, and accessible evidence that can be observed by just about anyone.”
I’ve been told that Mammoth flesh has been discovered, but I have not seen it, and I am not likely to see it. That does not mean the evidence is non-real? Ufology is in a similar situation, accept that people who have recovered Mammoth meat aren’t labeled “crazy”.
“Let’s be clear here; if you see an object in the sky that moves in a way that is contrary to everything we know about air travel and natural phenomena, you have seen a UFO. However, it is only evidence of the fact that you have seen something you can’t explain, it is NOT evidence of aliens. There is a difference.
You could just as easily claim that it was evidence of time travelers in a Boeing jet from the future as you could aliens, since we have equal evidence of the existence of both (i.e. none).”
You are right about UFO’s and the ET Hypothesis. I have a hunch that ET has them and we’ve seen them, but that is not proof. I was making a more general statement that there has been evidence of both things, whether they are linked or not. Personally, I am much more interested in the advanced technology, and developing it ourselves.
It does not mean that...
It is something from not here would mean also a Fallen Angel...
If you are not from earth you are an Alien being...
If someone said I am a Martian they would be an Alien a Demon a Fallen Angel....
For purposes of a UFO discussion yes that is what alien means. And no fallen angels don’t make the cut, unless you can explain why they needed UFOs.
If someone said they’re a Martian that would JUST be alien, not demon or fallen angel. Unless you’ve got proof that Mars is heaven or hell.
It is fun to think about. I guess not everybody groks the difference between thought experiments and believing it to be true. Horton Hears a Who is a pretty fun thought experiment too, but I ain’t gonna believe we’re a speck of dust being carried around by a talking elephant either.
If you believe in GOD then you know..GOD creator of the Universe threw Satan and many many of his angels out on their ear...
They lost there seat in heaven, however they still had power, not the power of GOD but power to decieve people and to cause chaos on earth when the *Fall* happened in the garden....Some say Satan and his alien demons did inhabit Mars maybe some still live there, I don’t know.
Alien beings have spacecraft and so do Angels according to the Book of Enoch...Flying Chariots etc....
Can you prove Aliens are not on earth?
But then how do you get from that to flying around New Mexico in 1947? That’s your core disconnect. You can take the Bible as a given, but you can’t take demons = aliens as a given, that’s something you need to PROVE.
Can’t prove a negative.
If I’m gonna believe something weird I’m gonna take a lesson from L Ron Hubbard: make sure it makes me money, and make it up as I go.
