Thanks for reposting this.

What a treat ala Paul Potts. For Les Miz fans, it was especially thrilling to hear this song.

There are many postings on You Tube now. Some have the full version, but only a few have the highest quality sound, which makes all the difference. I am still searching for the best full version with high quality sound to send the link to my e-mail list.

Bravo performance.

Well. I admit I have never watched American Idol. I will also say that Susan Boyle was incredibly inspiring. I also watched Paul Pots and started to tear up.....I guess it’s an age thing....;)

Yes, this is such an uplifting story. It seems that millions all over the world are in agreement.

I’m anxious to hear Susan sing more songs. Her days of unemployment are over.

AngieGal, I just watched it again, and wanted to say that when I first saw this I noted that Susan looked very much like Newt Gingrich. Susan is Scottish, and Newt is from Scottish descent. I think we have found a cousin of his!

I just saw this tonight, and quite frankly, I’m at a loss for words.

God-given. Stunning. Beautiful. Spectacular. Amazing.

What a gorgeous voice! God bless you, Susan!!!

This woman is simply amazing.
Anyone know if she was ever trained?

I knew I had read yesterday that she was enrolled in an acting university, but had stopped school to care for her mother. So I went looking and here’s the article:

Thanks for posting that.

What I want to know is how do people like her fly under the radar? Doesn’t anyone hear them sing!!!

I’m listening to it again. :)

Small village in Scotland, evidently she sang, but nobody with ties to the industry listened. The old story of it’s not what you know but who you know...unfortunately that’s how it works, and in her case it wasn’t how well she could sing, but who was there to hear her sing that will make the difference from here on out.

Sad that she is getting started at 47. Her life would have been totally different ...

I posted this on a newer thread as well. I think they fly under the radar because we only give the 'beautiful people' a second glance in the entertainment world. I stumbled across this guy on Youtube, and it is pretty much the same story. Judges on World Idol, including Simon, told him he looked like a Hobbit. He laughed, but he also won World Idol:

Kurt Nilsen (Never Easy - a song he wrote)

He has a great voice but doesn't fit the record label's mold for appearances. He has written and recorded some great stuff and just keeps getting better.

More Kurt Here and A sublime cover of 'Hallelujah' with his Norwegian friends.

Listen to the last if nothing else. It's a hectic world and a little 3 minute retreat to something pleasant won't hurt.

BTW, when I saw your post a day after you’d posted it, the watch count was 1,8000,000 ... today, just 2 days later, it’s 7,2000,000.

And this is not the only video of it on YouTube.

Apparently, due to complications with birth, her brain had been briefly deprived of oxygen and lead to learning difficulties.

It’s from Wikipedia, so YMMV.

When I read some of the comments at the end of one of the many videos (one of the first and when it had less than 17K viewers)someone who claimed to live in her neighborhood said that she had some form of brain damage but did not specify.

Really weird because later there was a post from a friend who was in the video (making the rolling eyes) Apparently she has been getting many nasty comments from people who know her.
