Oh my! But far better than having a cat who brings in mice, rats, birds, and the occasional snake — dead or alive.

I had a cat that would do that, catch rats and gophers and leave their entrails in the middle of the living room. I wish the idgits I have now would at least catch a mouse.

My Grandparents had a long haired tabby named Philip that would knock at the back door when he wanted in. He was a very accomplished hunter. They learned to check through an adjacent window because one time Phillip and had a rather large garter snake in his jaws as he knocked. The snake was not dead yet and was somewhat large. This all took place on Vancouver Island where the climate contributed to fairly size able nonvenomous snakes. Phillip the cat was let in and took his prize into the living room to finish it. My Grandfather tried to take the snake away and the cat objected. A quick swat stunned the cat and allowed my Grandfather to get the snake and throw it out the back door. The cat Phillip was PO’d at my grandfather for stealing his snake. LOL
