Instead of her helping out schools outside this country, why doesn't she spend her time and money on the lousy schools in the United States. She likes to critize them, help them instead.

Everything this woman touches turns to sleaze (if not already)
Including her political candidates
To: antiunion person
She is trying to train elites, for a country well down the path to disaster that is already run by elites.

She’s addressed that...she said kids here don’t want to learn...and she’s right. I still don’t understand why everyone is so down on her and this venture. It’s difficult under any circumstance to go into a foreign culture and start something new and exciting.

She likes to critize them, help them instead. Good point, and perhaps the answer is there in your statement. IF she REALLY helped them, she couldn't criticize them anymore.
I will point out that while the school was funded by Orca, it's staffed and run by South Africans, and by the standards of that "civilization" Orca's school is probably a gleaming spire of academic achievement.

She can't get away with her arbitrary method of deciding who will and will not attend her school.
Besides, over here Oprah wouldn't qualify to run it the way she gets to over there. Over here she would have to meet certain regulations and also deal actively with making sure it's run properly or she would face liabilities in the event that a student experiences any type of abuse at the hands of staff.
In Africa they're so grateful that they won't hold her responsible for anything and she gets to call herself a philanthropist without having to be held responsible.

It’s like Clintoon—and now Dubya, going over to Africa to “help” people with AIDS. Dubya’s former press sec. Dana Perino just said last week that she’s going to help out there, too.
They just came out with the stats that Washington DC has HIV/AIDS infection rates equal to that some some African nations—why the hell don’t they, or that guy Bono (I call him “Boner”) from U2, go to DC and “help” there—it would save a lot on jet fuel too.....

Okay, credit to Oprah for opening this school. But....
Why not schools in Chicago, Atlanta, Compton, The Bronx and Brooklyn? What the heck is her connection to South Africa other than having the terrorist Mandela on her show?

Our schools do not need money, we need to see that the heart of the problem is the break down of family. No fault divorce is the biggest problem in addition to having children out of wedlock. Bring back the shame and stigma of having children and not being married.

Instead of her helping out schools outside this country, why doesn't she spend her time and money on the lousy schools in the United States. Some rich guy in Michigan tried that, and the blacks of Detroit, the unions, and the Canadian governor Granholm killed the effort. Why bother trying to help people that will bite off your hand?

Which of course if the problem. If little Freddy Fart gets his hand slapped by the teacher after he tries to stick a crayon up his nose, the parents sue.

Ah, Equal Opportunity.
The civil rights people would freak out over it and she would get burned by the very stuff she promotes so avidly.
