Wildlife officials will remove as many as 200 feral cats that prey on seabirds and other critters on San Nicolas Island. The project is expected to take as long as two years. It will involve using live traps, padded leg traps and tracking dogs to catch the non-native cats.
Jane Hendron, a spokeswoman for U.S. Fish & Wildlife office in Carlsbad, says healthy cats could go up for adoption, but those deemed sick will be euthanized.

Just your average spay/neuter clinic on wheels.

Just your average spay/neuter clinic on wheels.Really? Wow, had no idea. So that's how they do it? Looks like there are open wounds on all of them. I'm assuming they are all under anesthetic and will be closed up and returned to owners??? Sorry, just never knew that's how it's done.

Yes. That's how it's done. Often when a vet donates their time to a clinic, it has to be done efficiently. Those aren't wounds, their abdomens are washed with Betadine or a variant, a topical antiseptic after they are shaved.

It would probably be easier to remove the Muslim POTUS from Washington D.C. than it would be to remove the feral cats from St. Nickolas Island. However, the same methods could be used to rid both areas of the infestation.

Thanks to both of you for chiming in with your much more positive info.
I was speaking only from my personal experience and from what I was told by the Vet and few other folks when I caught the wild one I raised. It was a darn good cat. Smart, house-broken and I was even able to train it - Yes, Cats can be trained - to sit, shake hands and fall over and play dead when I "shot" it with my fingers. I did have a unpleasant habit of proudly bringing in an occasional chipmunk for me.
Unfortunately my neighbor, also a pet owner, ran over her one afternoon. She made it back to my patio and I found her there. Sad ending to a good cat.
