I am leaving Free Republic. After I post this message I will not come back and most likely ask the moderator to remove my account.
You may ask why. Today I posted a copy of a letter I received from an anti-terrorism officer in the United States Air Force. It was received through official channels but was not classified or top secret and I was granted permission to share it. It was an article concerning the possibility of a terrorist attack on American soil and it was pulled because, and I quote "Proven incorrect on snopes."
This is one time I am disagreeing with the moderator and his/her decision to pull the thread. This information was verified through official military channels and was supposed to help warn us to the imminent danger our country is in.
Instead, the moderator exercised, I felt, a lapse in judgment when he (or she) pulled the article that is in need of being disseminated. And this isn't the first time this has been done by moderators on Free Republic. While Free Republic has stood for conservative and GOP values it has also neglected it's responsibility to see that the information of the type I tried to share gets out. Instead they say it can't be verified and could be wild speculation (though I told them it was verified through official military channels) and pulled it even though I asked them not to.
So, I am saying goodbye. It was fun and I will treasure the friends I have made here on FR. Good luck to you all.
Exactly. On FR of all places.
Given the subjectivity of some mods, unless a post is totally out of line, there should be an alternate route available to posters. Or at least the abiilty to address the issue with the mod, and direct him/her to other sources than snopes.
Maybe it’s time to recycle the thread about snopes and its bias.

The moderator has to make many decisions regarding the integrity of posts and sometimes they get it wrong.
If you feel your post was pulled wrongly, you should look at it from the moderator's point of view. They really are trying to do their best and practice as much impartiality as humanly possible.
I myself have posted and had several posts pulled for who knows what the reasons are.
Still, I have posted again thinking there must have been error and it went through just fine.
Other times I knew it would probably be pulled while others I had to get clarification(not easy considering the amount of chat the moderator gets in a day, while trying to maintain the website and the content integrity.
All you are going to get from here are posts on the order of:
buh, bye, whiner
Your post must not be that important for you to bail in fact you are intellectually capsized anyway, so off with you.
It's a great life if you don't weaken
etc.
Bottom line:
If you feel strongly about a subject fight for it. You don't win by withdrawing. In fact, you cheapen yourself with this tact.
Come on back, don't be a baby and give $10 bucks as penance.

I saw the headline and clicked on it and saw that it was pulled. That’s not a valid reason to leave if you are a patriot and truly believe in the source/veracity of the article. Nevertheless, you are free to do as you please, pctech...although in my opinion you should reconsider and stay.

Yep, and I have even pulled my own posts...sometimes I just plain make a mistake.
