It’s an environment that he can’t control. He’s terrified that someone might ‘boo’ him and hurt his delicate feewings.

Afraid you can’t get it to the catcher on less than one bounce, eh?

That’s okay, Barry, you just stay home and eat some arugula... no, don’t WORRY about the price, the rest fo the taxpayers and I will pick up the tab...

The Thin-skinned One is afraid, afraid he’ll be booed, afraid his carefully crafted image of athleticism will tumble to the ground like a limp-wristed flail of an opening pitch.

Just like he doesn’t let out the White House videos of the stupid things he does (Irish Prime Minister, etc.) he won’t do something like this, in which he can’t stop from looking stupid.

He has a serious complex.

If he throws a baseball like he plays basketball then its probably best for him to NOT throw out the first pitch. He plays basketball like an uncoordinated white guy.

Obama told us that our history and traditions would have to CHANGE. That we can't go on living the way we have.

He's come to bury America's national passtime.

Does anyone wonder if his “Anwar Sadat” moment in Turkey may have him a little shaken?

He is a cowering bully though. I think we will only see him in well controlled settings from here for a long time.

The bowling debacle was the first thing I thought of too. He probably also remembers that GWB could actually throw a baseball and BHO doesn’t want to come off as a huge dork.

I’d understand if baseballs were made from pigskin...(ah ha)...but that’s not the reason.

I’m no psychiatrist, and I don’t play one on TV.

However, IMHO, Obama is so insecure he won’t put himself in any situation that he can’t “control”...thus the teleprompted short press releases, and his statement yesterday when asked about the pirates, “We’re talking about houses now.”

Two perfect examples are this pitch...he might not make a good pitch (probably won’t...so he won’t chance it) and the Gridiron Club dinner. Both were longstanding traditions he backed out of, and I think for no other reason than to preserve his narcissistic compulsion to be viewed as better than the average Joe.
