I was sitting in the movie theatre eating popcorn and Milk Duds while watching the previews of upcoming attractions when my wife asked how I could combine two seemingly opposite food items. I told her that Milk Duds, when eaten simultaneously with popcorn, are very tasty. Dont knock it until youve tried it.
While waiting for the feature presentation I began to think of other strange food combinations that I have eaten through the years. Since childhood, I have dipped my potato chips into applesauce. Like Milk Duds and popcorn, the combination of the salt in the chips and sugar in the applesauce play well off of each other. I have always put ketchup on butter beans and now my children have now acquired a taste for their fathers strange legume-meets-tomato-condiment pairing.
I began to wonder what other people might eat in the way of strange food pairings, so I logged on to my Facebook page and posed the question: What are the strange food combinations that you like to eat?

Okay... totally bizarre... that's what we snacked on last night while watching Jackie Brown! I liked it, yum... although it was super-rich.
My fave theater combos are popcorn and Nibs, and popcorn and jalapenos.

Look what that did for milk and cookies and chocolate and peanut butter!! Awesome!! The list is endless...
I like combining foods just in case the tastes go good together...
Neat Thread idea.
I do this so often tis hard to narrow my list, lol!
Chocolate covered potato chips
Avacado slices and mashed or baked potatoes...not quacamole...it’s all about the slices incorporated/mashed in & still chunky.
I may be back to add more as I remember food combos I enjoy.
& btw, I too like Milk Duds & buttered pocorn. Who wouldn’t:)
mmmm, never heard that but...imagine it would be good too. However, today we are concentraing on hopping animals all coated in chocolate and the color candies they delivered. :)

We’ve been told that there’s no wrong way to eat a Reeses, but what about a peep? In the tradition of some of the terrible, terrible things you can put into your body that this blog has shown you, I thought I would bring you one more. Serious Eats has convinced me that peeps are probably one more food that should not be deep fried:
If you think that looks yummy, you can follow the step-by-step recipe. But in the meantime, I’ve scoured up some other ways that people eat their peeps… After all, with peeps and other Easter candies half off on Monday, the frugal chef could make a few peeps go a long way.
And if none of those suit you, here are some more suggestions for cooking with peeps. Happy Peep Day!
LOL ..so you had the Nessie over for the Big Day?
Popcorn and dill pickles are excellent together.
LOL! Those aveeez(avacados)are funny!
Like those 2 separately, so I’m willing to put those 2 foods together,once...LOL!
Just to see if my tastebuds concur with yours:)
