Binghamton's police chief said a man who killed 13 people inside an immigrant community center was depressed after recently losing a job and angry that he couldn't speak English well.
Police Chief Joseph Zikuski told CBS' The Early Show that the motives of 41-year-old Jiverly Wong, who had taken classes at the American Civic Association, to kill so many were not very clear.
"He recently lost a job, spoke very little or no English, and was angry because people looked down upon him," Zikuski told Early Show anchor Erica Hill. "That's all we have at this point. There's been no notes or anything like that to indicate what his motives may have been and we're hoping to get some more light shed on why he did something as horrible as this. But that's all we may end up with."

In other words, straight shooting CBS News sort of “filled in the blanks”, making it look as though racist employers drove the poor, unfortunate guy to murder. Well knock me over with a feather.
I read a report yesterday evening that said his wife had left him about a year ago (because he had been acting strangely) and that his neighbors thought he was becoming rather peculiar and weren’t comfortable around him. This was well before he lost his job.
In other words, he was a nut-case who should have been hospitalized before he could have done any damage.
I wonder if the guy was depressed and on Paxsil or something?
Is he gone?
THe gunman is still alive?
Excellent point. Apparently, a dead man’s thought can be learned quicker than his identity.... at least in the media’s investigation.
This is a case where the headline writer should be shot. In the article, the police chief says “We have no idea what the motive is.” Since the world would like to know the motive, it would have been more responsible to say “Police chief says no motive found yet.”
