An Oklahoma family credits their dog DBoy with protecting them from a gun-wielding intruder who barged into their home. Roberta Trawick says her pit bull leapt to defend her and her family.
The intruder, who is still at large, "came in, pointed a gun at me and said, Get down on the ground'," Trawick told Oklahoma Citys News 9. Then, Trawick says DBoy immediately ran in from another room and was ready to attack. The gunman shot DBoy three times -- twice in the head -- before running off after apparently being spooked by the dog.
"It is amazing, it's amazing that he went after that guy, and that I still have a family," family member Angelic Shoemaker told News 9.
"The vet said if it wasn't for his hard head he wouldn't be here," Trawick said. The family was able to pay for DBoys medical bills through donations, the report said.
"I'm sorry my dog got shot, but I still got my family and we still got our dog," a tearful Shoemaker told News 9. Trawick's father reportedly rescued 2-year-old dog from an abusive home just three months before the break-in.
Aw, good boy DBoy!!!
It’s nice to see a good pit bull story. I still wouldn’t have one around my baby or kids, but they aren’t all evil.
Let’s ban Pit Bulls they are wild uncontrollable animals, enough is enough....
They’re known for having hard heads
never mind that give him a steak, or the leg of the intruder, which ever is less likely to give him indigestion.
Wow, there were some pretty cool pictures in there...I especially loved the one of Dragon and Achilles.
:-)
I’m just glad neither the heroes nor the villains in this story live anywhere near me.
One family member saved.
Seriously, have you ever seen the dog whisperer? Caesar has mostly pits in his yard of dogs..Pit Bulls have gotten a bad wrap due to a lot of foolish people who use them to make their egos feel better.
Wow...they are beautiful.
LOL!
I had a cat that hated all women, actually she hated everybody except me..
Then one day she met this women and fell in love with her..
I married that women and have been happy ever after.
Sadly she died about 6 years ago,but she allowed my future wife into the the house without hissing or clawing..
Your dog might have been giving you dating advice?
LOL...That’s my good friend Ann with Norton.
I share her house and the love of our dogs.
Norton’s story happened before I met her...
One night she had gotten up to go to the washroom and was bitten by a spider.
She had an allergic reaction, fell to the floor, her throat swelling shut, cutting off her breath.
Norton, sensing she was in trouble, persistently attempted to rouse Ann’s ex.
He awoke and called an ambulance.
Norton had saved her life.
I’m very grateful to the Good Lord
for bring Ann and through her, Sam into my life.
Norton has since passed on and waits at the rainbow bridge.
I was fortunate to have met him, he was a good dog.
We owe Chet99 a pat on the back.
Due in no small part to his efforts
we are seeing more opportunities for educating
folks about responsible dog ownership
as well as more positive dog articles posted on FR.
Thanks Chet! Keep up the good work!
