Excuse me for being dense, but the kids found the stash at home, they didn’t get it in school. If anything, at least in this case, them attending school was probably a good thing.
I was just confused about the jurisdiction, not saying it’s a good idea for children to be smoking marijuana!
I think it’s the principle of the thing; homeschool types see “school resource officers” with the power to come into your home as a step on a slippery slope. Yeah, this time is was stoned elementary students, but what happens when it’s because Johnny talked about Daddy’s gun collection and the school resource officer wants to make sure it’s secured properly?
So?...It is a “good thing” for other people's children to be **FORCED** (under penalty of police and court action) to be associated in any way with these kids and their parents?
I don't think so!
Every homeschooler reading this article is asking themselves, “Is this the wonderful “socialization” my kids are missing?”
Also....I see “Resource Officers” as teaching children how to be good prisoners of the state. Jen B is right. The prison ( oops! “school”) snitches will soon be reporting to the state officer on the guns or bibles in the home.
