I’m puzzled at the “school resource officer’s” involvement in something that took place at home.

Don't be puzzled. Schools believe themselves to be the only real authority in the child's life and that homes are just what they have to put up with: the good home is the one that facilitates whatever the school wants to do; the bad home is the one that impedes that, for whatever reason, whether it's a crack house or a very religious home or one whose parents are extremely well-educated and ready to hold the school's feet to the fire.

I heard about this on the radio this morning and they said that the kids came to school stoned. I just looked up the article and thought that it was mentioned in the article as well.
Anyway, this is so typical of that area. There are a LOT of homeschool families in Oswego county and that sort of thing is one of the reasons why. It played into our decision to homeschool.
