Well, I know the PETA people will be happy. Fish gets revenge and all that.

Put in in head first and the dorsal fin could prevent it from being expelled.

Beat me to it!
The good news is that the gene pool just got a bit deeper.

When I was a kid I used to take the half day fishing boat the “Paul G.” from Belmont Pier in Long Beach.
Went out many times on that boat, but for some reason one of those times I was seasick. REALLY seasick, and one of the deck hands took a live bait, but he did the old turn the head and give the illusion bit of placing the wiggling bait in his mouth. It actually slipped past his face and back into the bait tank, but his trick was effective as I lurched to the rail and heaved over the side. He thought it quite hilarious.
I didn’t think it was so funny actually.

That's right, how could I forget. Back to the re-education camps for me.
I love bbq'd sea kittens.

Yes. Ian Fleming wrote a “James Bond” sort story in “For Your Eyes Only” where choking on a fish in this manner was a central theme. “The Hildebrand Rarity” is the name of the short story, as I recall.
“For Your Eyes Only” is probably Ian Fleming’s best James Bond book. It contains, among other things, “A Quantum of Solace”, which is a great story in and of itself.

While I did not allow it on my boat, many of the charterboat captains that I knew would allow the mate to pretend to eat a squid sandwich in front of the charter, especially when it was a bit rough. The squid being on the half of the bread that wasn't in the mouth.
It almost always resulted in an early trip back to the dock with full pay.
My brother once took a boatload of Chinese out and they ate the bait before they could get a chance to fish!
