Dressed in a cream embellished cardigan and green gingham skirt, Michelle Obama practically shimmered in the early morning sunlight today as she and her husband arrived at 10 Downing Street.
The US First Lady, who has been hailed by the fashion press as a modern-day Jackie O, was not clad in high-end designer labels as one might expect someone of her position to wear. Instead, the glamorous 45-year-old opted for a spring-like ensemble from American high-street favourite J Crew.

I’m bigger every day! I go to The Salvation Army every couple of weeks to re-donate the frocks I’ve outgrown and pick up bigger ones ;-). For a while, I had a black and white gingham jumper; it did kind of shimmer - it was that high-gloss cotton-polyester blend.
The sweater is the real hoot in these pictures. What a bizarre woman! She must think that slouching makes her shorter, half-sleeves make her arms shorter, and too-tight clothes make her thinner.
Obviously SHE started the meme that she is a fashion star!! OMG...Green GINGHAM.....zebra shoes....GLITTER sweater in the morning???
I’m beginning to think that the self-satisfied smirk is due to something else. What have the Marxists done to literature, to art, to popular culture, to anything aesthetically “good?” They’ve deconstructed it, turned it inside out, made a mockery of it, and dared anyone to question what they’ve done. What Michelle Obama is smirking about is, she knows she looks bad. It’s intentional. She’s the First Lady equivalent of Maplethorpe’s crucifix in a glass of urine, or that Madonna “painted” with elephant dung. And, she’s quite smug about it.
Was that a parody? I’m sorry, I am not a fashion plate myself, but in the [photo both women look slouchy and sloppy. And wrinkled to boot.

It makes sense and it’s exactly what I think. I really don’t care that much, I don’t think our First Lady needs to be a fashion icon. However, why does the press keep insisting that she is? She clearly has no sense of style, and whoever is helping her must hate her. I don’t have a real clue either how to dress for that sort of thing, but I know what looks bad on me, and I avoid it.

She just doesn't look very "put together," which isn't such a bad thing in itself. It's just the obsequiousness of the press that makes it so absurd.
Not sure, there was a Getty Images photo posted. They prohibit the use of their licensed images on FR. The rest of the internet does not face the same pressures as FR.
If you have a pooch in the front (and believe me, I know...LOL) you can’t wear things that fit snugly over it. That’s the only real problem I have with Brown’s dress. There are ways to hide a poochy tummy. I used to be appalled at the teenaged girls in my classes who had fat bellies and wore those spandex shirts. If you can count the number of *tires* they have, it’s too tight for their figure.
As for Michelle, I think she works out, how difficult would it be fore her to work on her posture? I think standing up straight would be a HUGE benefit to her. She just looks sloppy because she slouches.
The woman I’d most like to climb the empire state building with.
