Dressed in a cream embellished cardigan and green gingham skirt, Michelle Obama practically shimmered in the early morning sunlight today as she and her husband arrived at 10 Downing Street.
The US First Lady, who has been hailed by the fashion press as a modern-day Jackie O, was not clad in high-end designer labels as one might expect someone of her position to wear. Instead, the glamorous 45-year-old opted for a spring-like ensemble from American high-street favourite J Crew.

Words leave me!
Actually, a smart little jacket might have been nice.
I bow to the mods judgement, as always. I think it may have been a copyrighted picture of Patrick Ewing superimposed on Jackie No’s body. Possibly the mod felt it was too mean to Patrick to do that to him. :)
When are you due? Believe it or not, I miss being pregnant! Of course, that’s years and years of forgetting talking.... ;)
What happened to the PICTURES???? They are GONE???
Well then, I’m in! hehehe
The skirt isn't gingham, it's a dotted jacquard. $158 at JCrew, which explains all the wrinkles. Higher prices do buy you a little something, namely the quality of fabric that doesn't necessarily wrinkle on single car ride. (she's wearing acetate/cotton/poly)
If you check the photo in which she's seated, the skirt's lining is showing. Further evidence of going cheap.
I love the shoes. They're the only part of the ensemble for which I care. Notably, their manufacture isn't mentioned. And JCrew can't confirm whether they're part of the JCrew collection. Probably b/c they are couture. It would never do for the masses to know that Mrs. O's shoes cost double what the entire rest of her ensemble cost.
I don't object to the ensemble, but it's not worthy of the First Lady. I'd like her to be exceptionally dressed.
I’d climb her, not so sure about a building...
Sarah Brown proves classic frump never is out of style.
Meaoooooow.
Half the women in the local WalMart are dressed at least that well.
That is the best thing ever! Where did you find it??!
Maybe one’s bulgy belly is supposed to look healthy ;-). Mrs. Brown gets an A for Appropriateness, but the fit isn’t good for her.
First week of June. It’s been a while since my previous pregnancy (Vlad is 3), but I didn’t miss it! It will be nice to have another baby, though. I really like babies!
Now that I think about it tho, if I were representing our country to the world, I really would try to look classic and tasteful. Or, I would make a big deal about being a non fashion conscious person, and deride the press when they said I was anything other than myself. (it might actually be refreshing for a change).
Not epic, but just some goofy fun.
Since it was a parody I made of a Getty Image, not an actual Getty Image, I am sure it falls outside of any copyright infringement problems. This has been affirmed again and again by the courts. But Getty Images threatens to sue everybody all the time, and I guess FR doesn't need the hassles.

They must have been from a source that is off limits.
That’s all I’m saying. Frankly, very few women have that nice flat tummy anymore, that’s why I think spandex should be outlawed! ;)
I like babies too. Can’t wait to be a grandma! (altho nothing on the horizon as far as I know...darnit).
Looks like two Flemish Herring Busses dawdling in a head wind off the Dogger Bank..
I agree. There are plenty of outfits that are flattering for stouter, or more curvaceous, ladies - you just have to acknowledge that you’re not a size 2!
