First off JCrew's clothing is not made in America. I'd rather Michelle had her clothing custom made in the states than go cheap with imports.

The skirt isn't gingham, it's a dotted jacquard. $158 at JCrew, which explains all the wrinkles. Higher prices do buy you a little something, namely the quality of fabric that doesn't necessarily wrinkle on single car ride. (she's wearing acetate/cotton/poly)

If you check the photo in which she's seated, the skirt's lining is showing. Further evidence of going cheap.

I love the shoes. They're the only part of the ensemble for which I care. Notably, their manufacture isn't mentioned. And JCrew can't confirm whether they're part of the JCrew collection. Probably b/c they are couture. It would never do for the masses to know that Mrs. O's shoes cost double what the entire rest of her ensemble cost.

I don't object to the ensemble, but it's not worthy of the First Lady. I'd like her to be exceptionally dressed.

I love the shoes.

So do I. I just wish they matched the rest of the outfit.
