DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. - A toddler is in critical condition after being bitten by his family's pit bull Tuesday.
Paramedics arrived at a home in the 1900 block of Addison Road South around 9:30 a.m. and found a boy with severe injuries to his face, head and eye, Prince George's County Fire and EMS spokesman Mark Brady says.
"As as a result of these injuries, paramedics transported the child to a specialty center in the Baltimore area," Brady says.
On the way to the hospital, a man who was accompanying the boy "became confrontational and demanded to be let out" of the ambulance, Brady says.
Paramedics let the man out of the ambulance on the side of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in Howard County and notified U.S. Park Police.
Prince George's County Animal Control officials are investigating the incident.
While the investigation continues, the pit bull is being held at Prince George's County Animal Control headquarters in Forestville for a standard 10-day quarantine to check for rabies.
Pit bulls are illegal in Prince George's County, so the owner could face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Satan's Pawn.
You're really obsessed with this subject, huh? What do you want? A full ban? There are SO many more rational things to go after than a single breed of dog responsible for like a dozen deaths in America annually.
typical liberal wanting to ban Americans of everything, you are a sick liberal that needs a healthy dose of the concept of what it means to be free.
Do you walk around with a helmet because you are afraid of tripping? You know, concrete kills more people every year than every breed of dog combined.
Prayers for the child.
I am neither liberal nor do I want to ban pit bulls. They can be kept in zoos next to other wild, vicious and undomesticated animals.
Ah, Chet99, here you are...let me ask you this again:
What’s your purpose in continuously posting threads about the negative aspects of ONLY pit bulls? Why is it that you never post the same about attacks from other breeds of dogs (examples of which I have posted in other threads of yours)
to keep it fair? And finally, why do you never post positive stories of pit bulls, even though there are numerous ones out there (again, of which I have posted plenty of examples)?
Again, I truly would like an answer from you on this ~ I’ll check back later for it...thanks.
geezuss Chet....you were a great polls watcher but you’re kinda obsessed doncha think?
Rotts are almost as dangerous.
Do you want them banned too?
Where will you stop?
Lassie?
Rin Tin Tin?
Old yeller?
death to Spanky’s dog goes without saying..

Some additional information...
“A 4-year-old boy was critically injured when he was mauled by a pit bull this morning in District Heights, authorities said.
The boy’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, but he was attacked on the face and sustained traumatic injury to one of his eyes, said Mark Brady, spokesman for the Prince George’s County Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department.”

FWIW
“The dog’s owner spoke by phone exclusively with 9NEWS NOW and wusa9.com. He insists the dog was simply playing with the boy, licking and nibbling on his face when the boy pulled away. The man says the boy’s only injury is a cut to his eyelid.”

I don’t want to ban Pit Bulls (Gee, where did they get that name, Mr Rogers?), but I wouldn’t mind if they went extinct.
I’ve had many bad experiences with these dogs.
Don’t give me the whole “abused” thing. Even the ones that weren’t abused are unpredictable and aggresive. (Don’t care what you pit owners say, I’ve seen it, lived it, have the scars to prove it, know it’s true.)
I’ve been around many dogs and these dogs are off-in-the-head—maybe not every one of them, but I’d wager more than half are genetically predisposed to DEADLY agression and are unsafe.
This took place in an area where “pit bulls” are banned.
Beautiful dog!
Thanks for posting that wonderful picture of a great breed!
