Geddy Lee and Neil Peart of Rush arrive at the Dreamworks' premiere of "I Love You, Man." And while Paul Rudd and Jason Segel may love the band, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame sure doesn't.
When the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame holds its annual induction ceremony April 4, there once again won

Just curious; why did they lose you w/Farewell and after?
I've been listening to that song a lot lately.
My heart aches for our country, and the direction it's taken. This song is not so much a warning as a prediction, IMHO.
Rush should not be inducted until YES is.
Hard to say. But, the music of their new direction just didn't appeal to me. I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it enough to go buy the album, either.
Jeff Beck is being inducted according to his website. This rebuffs the “no progressive rock band” gripe IMO.
The website indicates the inductees over-represent a particular racial group.

ALICE COOPER!!!!!!!!!!!
I know you didn’t address this to me RD, but I lost some interest when they when to the synthesizer.
They picked me back up when they did “Test For Echo”.
I really only knew 2112 growing up; can’t say they were a real appealing album...I didn’t notice many catchy hooks or melodies. But the concept/story of that record was interesting to me.
They are definitely a cerebral band; my SO says they were done in by the arrival of MTV, since they aren’t really camera-friendly.
1994 Alice Cooper
a travesty.......
Sprawling on the fringes of the city
In geometric order
An insulated border
In between the bright lights
And the far unlit unknown
Growing up it all seems so one-sided
Opinions all provided
The future pre-decided
Detached and subdivided
In the mass production zone
Nowhere is the dreamer
Or the misfit so alone
Subdivisions ---
In the high school halls
In the shopping malls
Conform or be cast out
Subdivisions ---
In the basement bars
In the backs of cars
Be cool or be cast out
Any escape might help to smooth
The unattractive truth
But the suburbs have no charms to soothe
The restless dreams of youth
Drawn like moths we drift into the city
The timeless old attraction
Cruising for the action
Lit up like a firefly
Just to feel the living night
Some will sell their dreams for small desires
Or lose the race to rats
Get caught in ticking traps
And start to dream of somewhere
To relax their restless flight
Somewhere out of a memory
Of lighted streets on quiet nights...
I find it interesting they dedicated their 2112 album to Ayn Rand. :) I wonder if she ever reacted to that.
I never liked Rush as a band.... but to leave them out of this (sham) Hall of Fame is pretty absurd.
They were a heavy touring band in the mid-70s. I remember them opening for Blue Oyster Cult in 1975 or 1976.
I bought the first album, then Caress of Steel and 2112. Then All the World’s a Stage. Wore the grooves of them and played the 8-tracks until they melted.
I happened to catch side one of 2112 on XM a few weeks back. I hadn’t heard it in 30 years. Some of the lyrics seem, ummmm, less profound to my 49 year-old ears, but the music still kicks.
Never really heard him - I’m not into fusion that much. Gimme hard bop!
Robin Trower http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLLu2VMMkmE&feature=related Never nominated either. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYpGaaOBxE8
Good gravy! Even Barbara Streisand and Alan Parsons are in there!
Like I said: the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ain’t about Rock-n-Roll OR fame!
Rush has much better cred’ by staying out!
Rush would probably agree with you
