He shook his head and muttered, "I'm jinxed." At the shore of a lake, he'd been standing 2 feet to my right. Same lures. Same casts. Same spots. In 10 casts, it was difficult for me to not catch something (or laugh). I think I landed five or six trout and hooked several more. But my buddy, Michael Furniss, did not get a single bite. Later, to his amazement, he caught one. "It's the jinx," he said, "The Furniss Jinx. My brother's got it, too." Do you call it "just one of those days," or could there be another reason? Turned out it was simple: He was using 6-pound blue-colored line; I was using 4-pound ultra-green. That explained it. The fish could see his line, not mine.
