Maybe related to the guy from the 1950s. He was driving a tank truck of gasoline through a neighborhood in Houston when it caught fire. He ran several blocks to a service station to call his boss in Louisiana to find out what to do. People whose homes were getting burned called the fire department.

Yes. During my high school years, a guy who owned a small repair/performance shop burned himself pretty good by welding on a gas tank. When he was well enough for an interview, he couldn’t understand what happened because “he made sure he emptied the tank first.” Then a few years later, some kids blew themselves up by using a light to try to see what was inside an oil storage tank out in one of the local oil fields.

Spencer Iowa about 25 years ago two young men bought a closed gas station. They proceeded to clean the floor up using - what else but gasoline. The compressor started and all that was left was the slab.
